Arrived in turkey yesterday with my non running daughter , who assured me this hotel was equipped with a gym & no there isn't , grrr so my only option now is run outside , which I do at home but it's so hot & hotel is in the mountains in middle Of no where . We have just been for a little walk & yes there is places I can run but it's a bit isolated , would you risk it early morning ?

Hi Rockette, sorry to hear you have no gym . Personally, I wouldn't, don't want to alarm you but you don't know who might be hanging about , better safe than sorry . Enjoy the rest of your holiday :-) xxx

I understand Rockette, a week is a long time to us when we are chomping at the bit to get out there . You will soon pick that up when you get back :-) xxx

Hi Rockette,

I personally feel you would be better not doing so. I remember once on holiday in Greece having short words with my husband - he of the never walking fame - because I wanted to walk down to the beach and he didn't. I stubbornly went on my own in the evening as the light was fading. It was only about 1km from the hotel but a very scruffy man in a van followed me and then turned his truck back to follow me again. I suddenly realised just how silly I had been and how vulnerable I suddenly was in an unfamiliar area. (Actually I was terrified by him!) And it doesn't have to be dangerous people - you could simply trip and fall and be in trouble. Better safe than sorry.

I know you are disappointed about no gym but it was just an oversight. Maybe a gentle trot along the beach and into the sea to cool down?

Oh no Rockette! Have you asked at reception if there is a gym in the area you can use?

That does sound like quite an unwelcoming climate and terrain for running...but if you're going to spend your whole holiday twitching for a run it's worth trying to find a solution :)

Best not to risk it and just enjoy your holiday. Like others have said your safety is the most important thing!!! Have a nice swim in the pool and sea instead!

Definitely not Rockette, far too dodgy. Just do lots of swimming and you'll be fit as a flea, lovely and tanned AND really relaxed when you get back home. Enjoy yourself :)

Have a great time, get plenty of swimming done and you'll be fine and dandy for running when you get back

Hi there, I have just come back from 2 weeks in Madeira. I intended on trying to complete W7 because i cant seem to find time to run 3 times a week- to move on. I would suggest you do lots of walking and swimmimg- and most importantly STAY SAFE... enjoy your holiday : )
