So there you are Julie...

Finally Julie joined me on today's run but I am not sure how long she will be staying. It's great to have Laura but the music I am not so sure about. The good news is I ended up having an extra day rest and today's run felt so much better than my last one.

Congrats on meeting Julie. I like the song but the rest of the music for W8 im not so sure about. There is a way to get the casts with just Laura on it and no music, so you can play it with your own music - I'm sure someone more tech savvy than me will be along to explain how to do this. The one thing I would say is that the music does help to get your pacing right. I tried running with just my own music today and found it harder to pace myself (although thats probably down to me liking lots of fast songs and having to resist the temptation to run in time to the music in case I tire myself out).

Conratulations again - you're on the home strait now.

Thank you. Yeah I did think about that, I use my iPod so haven't looked into if I can do that on it to tell the truth. I have started to listen to my own music on some runs to mix it up so hopefully will cope with it over the next two weeks, fingers crossed.

You met Julie! It's one of those momentous occasions that you always remember where you were. I recall my exact location when I first met Julie. It's something you don't easily forget!

Well done: graduation is in sight now! :-)

Yay for Julie. I actually ditched the podcasts by this point, I would listed to each week once and then the following runs I'd just listen to my own music, so much better.

But I erm did find the Julie song to download so I do pop it into my running playlists every so often :)

Nearly there now

Yeah I think I might do that too. Should I have Julie on my playlist? actually I didn't mind two songs from the first 2 weeks I might try to find them, worry they might be a bit slow. If I do find them when they play I will think back. Thank you for the idea spoonierunning :D

But the podcast music can help even if you don't like it - there were times when thinking I didn't want to hear this any more than I had to made all the difference between completing a session and not!

Even though the music is dire, I think there's something in how you can "run to the beat". Not everyone can do it, but I find "proper running" playlists actually pace me very well... I can assure you I would NEVER listen to some of the music on my running playlists outside of those headphones in my ears... :)

Have you had enough of Julie? Truly?

I am not sure if I run to the beat or not but I know when I am running too fast and too slow so maybe I shouldn't ditch the podcasts just yet as maybe they help. Need all the help I can get still. Aussie did you make your own running playlist or download it?

Where do you find proper running playlists Aussie?

in reply to rr76

Spotify have some (the ones Spotify themselves do) and Audiofuel do some podcasts as well. Some people can't help but "run to the beat" so these things can work well for them. Some people dread playlists and actually listen to Audiobooks while they run as music slows them down... and then some people run without them at all... not quite ready for that (tried it once, didn't really like it)... :)

Thanks Aussie, I will also have a look at these. I can't do audiobooks and I need something to run.

I rather like Julie. It makes me giggle - and you're absolutely right, Miles Yonder - every time I hear it I'm back on the canal towpath, near the lift bridge, in blazing hot sunshine.....

Have just listened to it.. and yes, it took me back too! Not a bad track, although I am very much enjoying chucking the ipod on shuffle and just going with whatever comes along.

Congrats on getting nearly there - graduation beckons :) :)
