You do Marathons, how cute. (They've changed them to Snickers.)

(Sunday) Actually, today's quote ended with 'cute'. Unfortunately, given the assualt I made on the chocolate shop yesterday I thought I might as well extend it.

More volunteers signed up for the cause yesterday, keep putting your names down - the more the merrier!

Circumstances render today's missive short, but remember - there's only one way forwards - follow the pinto

Hey Dozz good morning my friend. Just checking in to see how you're doing. Am wondering how many people have signed up for the Discombobulated? Must be quite a few by now!

Take care xx :)

We're into the twenties - pleased with progress - but more are needed. Spread the word!

Just posted on yesterday's thread about Marathons and Snickers...I managed to stop at 3 triangles of the pound land toblerone but I am going to have to cut down in prep for the discombobulated tri. Will put myself on stricter rations for the next few weeks. Now off to get my bike and go for a spin. I have been thinking about getting out my bike for about 3 months so thanks for helping me get me off my backside Dozzer. Have a good day everyone.

Still have to negotiate bike loan and cost of repatriation with my somewhat lighter neighbour. It's a mountain bike though so hopefully it's sturdy.

Go on without me, I've pulled a muscle....from coughing and lifting harps

This is no Picnic, I'll have to catch a Double Decker home.

Chomp on the cake of coffee and Walnut. Whip those men into shape and soon you'll all be victorious as Racers (Aldi own brand version of Marathon)

And off home to drink from our Reese's cups.

Did you know there are people that didn't even know they were once called marathon, poor souls. they will always be marathon bars to me.

Training for the running portion going well, I know the cycling will be well within my reach, however 30 minutes of swimming best find my local puddle and get practicing it's been about 2 years since I last went swimming.

A couple of training days with Laura have mysteriously changed into books and chocolate sessions. I'm not sure how it happened. It's the slippery slope. I find a word for the day but then instead of going and using it I'm drawn further into the dictionary. How do I break this addiction? Could I possibly go cold turkey or would I just start on the encyclopaedia instead?

Oh, reading the dictionary? Now you're talking my language!

Far more civilised than running, heavy breathing and looking as though I need taking to A&E.

For that reply I shall put you in charge of the library. I assume you are fully au fait with the Dewey Decimal System, Second Lieutenant I_will (classics div).

Why, I consider it to be an honour Sir!

Dewey Decimal System?! Oh Sir! *swoon*

Don't forget Huey and Louie though.

It's a quacking system, to be sure.

Word of the day 'groan' ( go run outside and NOW)

Drat. Given the size (unacceptable) of late breakfast I would render myself very unwell if I were to run at this moment. Will instead check times and prices of local pool and gym followed by further work on crossword. 59 down Orff - what a name! What a legend!

Orff? You mean Carl Orff??? Carmina Burana? You know that he wrote about I_will in O Fortuna don't you???

or put another way:

Yes, that Orff! Carmina Burana should become our anthem. No, as of this moment it is our anthem.

Just cycled for 60 minutes... Didn't even need my grandsons pull along bike (or the sun canopy unfortunately ). I think this triathlon in within my reach. Thanks Dozzer. Coffee now, but I will do my best to resist Toblerone, and Marathons and Racers :)

Come on all of you discombobulated, sign up. We can do it !

Oh, cripes, what have I done. Where am I going to get a bike? The neighbour may guffaw at the prospect of me on a bike and refuse me the use of his. Maybe Captain poppypug (ents and haberdashery div) is going to have to sew inserts into my onesie because the Lycra's not strong enough to to hold. How much of a Eureka moment will occur when I get into the pool? Will the ensuing tidal wave buffet young children out of the pool altogether?

AncientMum profile image
AncientMumGraduate in reply to dozzer19

Dunno where I'm going to get a bike from either. AncientDad's is far too big and posh for him to lend it to me. Could try the children next door. They have Barbie bikes with stablisers and pink streamers coming out of the handle bars. There's even a little basket on the front for cuddly toys (or in my case Ventolin) Still got a little while to sort it out, so haven't entered panic mode yet! :)

The council gym bikes would be boring. Being outside with views and a breeze would be far more fun so I think in my case it'll have to be the neighbour. If I enjoy it I'd contemplate buying a secondhand one on eBay. There's space in the garage if I burn some of the wood in the woodpile and get rid of some of the stuff to the dump.

Agree, cycling in a gym sounds boring but dare I brave traffic???? Feel I could be a bit of a liability to traffic and pedestrians alike. Wonder if I've got time to do my cycling proficiency badge before July :)

I'm going for the pavement options on the longer roads out of town - there are a few flat ones without many pedestrians. Anyway if Nan's friend can take her 4WD electric Fahrenheit 451 buggy on the pavement, I can take my bike. (What bike? We've surely ascertained I haven't got one.)

In fact I'm going to have a quick look on eBay now.
