I went for three runs this week as usual. I focussed more on distance this week and achieved an increase from 5k to 5.5 to 5.75.

I also varied my route. First route was my tried and tested route along the north banks of the tyne. This is fine lovely wood land and river scapes, but does involve some doubling back.

The second route was a circlular route and involved me going up the valley side. It was quite hilly. I now understand the topology of valleys much more, but i did enjoy the run and it was somewhere new I hadn't been before so made it interesting too.

My third route was new again. I noticed a path on the southern banks of the river and had checked out the beginning of the route last run. It was lovely scenery and I enjoyed it thoroughly. I still don't quite understand why I haven't visited this part of where I live before. The path too was not quite as smooth as the wagon way I normally run. It was undulating which made it more interesting. I quite forgot the time and distance and before I know it it was time to turn back. Great run and 5.75K completed!

I hope everybody elses week was good! What runnnig did you do?

Sounds like its going really well. One of the real unexpected pleasures of running is discovering more of the local area. Enjoy!
