Having been floored by a chest infection has put paid to the running lark. So for now I am able to walk easily. Yesterday and today I manged the 2 x 10k walks so well pleased with that. Going to ease myself inot a 5k run on Monday and hope I don't hack cough or collapse in a heap. Itching to get back out there. So much so I feel jealous when I see other people out running.........let me out there now!

Oh you poor thing! Well at least you are managing to get plenty of walking in. Good luck with your recovery :)

Being able to walk easily is hopefully is a good sign that you're well on the way to recovery. Hope all goes well on Monday - take it easy and don't worry if you don't manage 5k. I had a couple of weeks without running due to sickness a while back and for my first run I didn't have any expectations, just went out and ran "gently" for however long felt comfortable, which in my case was about 3km in 24 minutes. Take it easy, don't overdo it, and hopefully you'll be back to your normal routine of running soon :)

Sorry to hear this BC it took me ages to get over mine but it was winter which really hindered getting back out because of the cold air (asthmatic too). Don't do what I did and go onto the dreadmill, it was the cause of my PF because I ran using a heel strike without realising it after 3 runs the damage was done.

Hope you get back to running soon, you may want to try slow intervals the first outing just to give your lungs a chance of getting used to deep breathing again, good luck.

Ok so I did the Monday run still not feeling 100% but I was cautious and managed a very slow 6.5km. Yet I spoke to soon, the reason for not feeling on top form I developed a cold the same day and ended up back in bed.

So I seem to do things the wrong way round most folks get a cold then a chest infection, but I had to be different. So here I am Wednesday and no running again! Head feels like cotton wool and I must rest ...rest.

I am managing to walk the dogs every day though but not there normal long walks, just out for 1/2 hour. Recovery is still a number of days away. So armchair sports for me.
