Week 3 Run 1...

The first 3 minutes I actually struggled, I managed to jog 2 minutes but for some reason I wanted to stop. I was thinking hold on, I am not even tired so why did I stop? I finished that last minute. I have realized it was my mind telling me to stop and belittling me. After realizing this, I managed to push through the second 3 minutes...

It is definitely a mental game, but I have done it! Bring on run 2 :)

Well done. Keep fighting those negative thoughts ;)

Yeah just pushing through the barrier is so worth it :)

Well done! You'll find lots on here about the "first five minute" battle. I focus on how good I will feel when I finish to help stop the voice that says (and even on week 9) that I'm "too tired" or that I should just stop... :)

Injury and pain aside you can, push through it! And you have!

Well done and good luck on your next run - it gets addictive!

Yeah I hear the especially on the week 6 bit, it sounds rather scary but I still want to get to that point! Thanks :)

Go you ! Now you know this it shouldn't be so much of a problem in the future. I hate the first few minutes of every run but the longer the runs get, the longer the fun bits get...

I am starting to feel the longer it gets, the better it gets so I am looking forward to those longer runs..

Well done; I'm sure everyone has those "I must stop NOW!!!" voices, especially early on in a run, but like you say, it's more mental than anything. You're doing well; keep it up and good luck for run two! :-)

Yep! That inner saboteur again ... the little menace, the evil twin ... she starts her whining at around 4 mins then stops around 6 mins. She will pipe up a few times but as I have progressed I have learned to keep her voice to a whisper so I hardly hear her :D

Tell that voice who says "Why are you doing this? Just walk now," to keep quiet and run through her! She doesn't have a body - u do! Xxx

I will definitely use that for my next run actually... that is inspiring, thanks a lot :)

Well done for getting this run done. It's frequently said that running is more a mental thing than a physical one and that does seem to be the case a lot of the time. All power to you for finishing it. Good luck with your next run and best wishes.

Thank you :) You are absolutely right, that is why I am trying to focus on something else, although my mind just goes blank...so i suppose that is better than the voices!

Thank you! :)

Well done to you. I need to bear this in mind when I start W3 next week...... It's a daunting task indeed. Might start a wee mantra now in preparation.... I CAN keep going, I CAN keep going, I CAN keep going..........

Good luck with R2!! Let us know how you get on x
