I would really love to share the sort of support we have for running here with the efforts to improve eating habits there. I am Nilzed there as well, either track me down on their website, or post your alias here if you are also seeking new pals.
The friends steps competition thing on Fitbit is great. Except, i leave all my car commuting American friends in the dust. Its no fun winning all the time, who knew? My UK friends are people i found on the Fitbit website, be nice to compete against people i have at least this connection withrather than strangers. Again: Nilzed
If i already am friends with you on either, speak up in the apps so i can make that connection in my brain.

FitBit: fitbit.com/user/29V5XD - although my step count is very up and down... I treat my C25K rest days a bit too literally right now....
We dont have a car. The school run and errands gives me two miles a day minimum. Spouse has been generously doing the morning school run, so i could go ahead and dress for my C25K run and head out without risking the distraction factor of thinking i will do such and such, then go home and change and run. Because i would have constantly gotten home too hungry or too late or too any other excuse. But i think i can handle that now. My rest days involve the gym, and i want to add a walk home if the weather is agreeable.
Your steps leave me in the dust too, but that's not difficult right now. Once I've done C25K (2 more weeks left) I'll try to increase my activity on 'rest days' - I've just not wanted to overdo things and risk setting myself back so far.
