New member and new runner so please be gentle with me!!!!

I am on week 1 and run 3 is tomorrow but I made the mistake of looking ahead.

Tell me I am wrong and that you dont jump to a 20minute run in week 5? Given what comes before that seems extreme!!

Helps and tips welcome

Have faith in the programme and in yourself, it really works as you will find out. Don't look too far ahead, one week at a time is the way to succeed. Good luck.

I agree with Oldgirl, it does work, really it does, just take things steady and you will be fine. Enjoy yourself and look back on here for inspiration and advice if you need it. It is a great forum. x

Thanks.

Having read some posts I am strangely looking forward to it!!

Being able to run that time would be excellent.

I will take your advice though and take it one week at a time. I realise there may be bad weeks when things don't quite go to plan but I am determined to keep at it.

Even when I spotted that in week four it freaked me out, but actually when it came to it, it was fine. I ran in the rain and really enjoyed it!

It's freaking me out and I am on week 5 run 2 tomorrow; I am pretty sure I can do that but 20 minutes - well that's another matter. Everybody says it's ok, so I'm hoping.

Welcome to the programme and well done in getting the first two runs under your belt. I can only echo what has already been said here - don't look too far ahead and you will be fine. It's not that long ago I was on my first week but now I'm nearly two thirds the way through - the time seems to fly by. Good luck with the third run of the week. Best wishes.

it may seem like that now but not when the time comes. It's great!

I am on Week 2. I agre that 20 minute run seems out of place, but all these graduates did it, i am sure we will too!

Yep that one terrified me too, but it is so great when you do it. It opens up the rest of the programme and everything feels possible. I found it helped me to count the amount of actual running in the days leading up to it and then you realise it is not so far off! Good luck!

I printed this out and stuck it on my fridge, ticked it off day by day. The big red blocks seem daunting but they are achievable by that point, although I certainly doubted it at the beginning! tombenninger.com/files/2011...

I couldn't get my head around this one, either, but when it came along I was ready for it. Trust the programme - it really does work, even if that run seems a big leap. You'll be able to do it! Good luck :)

Ahhhhhhhggghhh.

Run 3 of week 1 was scheduled for the day but I have woken up with a stinkijg head cold. I recall reading that its ok to run if your cold is above the neck but avoid if its below.

Any thoughts??

It's a mental challenge rather than physical. Trust the programme :)

It does work, honestly. Take each week as it comes. If you need to, redo a run. I did this a lot - particularly in the early weeks. So it took me a lot longer to finish the programme - I did four runs in week 3 and week 4 (probably the latter because I dreaded week 5 - lol). Just keep going, if you feel tired slow down. And you will get bad runs, but bad runs are better than no run at all.
