Just started

I've just started this today, I've done some jogging on & off but felt like I needed someone to tell me what to do! I really like these podcasts. Not too keen on the music. Anyone else just started? :) How do you find it?

I also am not keen on the music. I always use Laura's podcast for the first run of the week - but for the next two, I try different podcasts ( there are many of them on the Internet). BUT - my problem with all these podcasts are that the music generally does not have a rhythmic beat suitable to run to (an exaggeration to illustrate , how do you run to a waltz --or rap music--- :) . In fact, some of the music is so "un-rhyhmic" that it puts my running "style" right off. And even if a piece of music does have a suitable beat, it is usually the wrong cadence/BPM for my personal style of running.

Next time I use it I'll see if I can play my music at the same time, I doubt I'd be able to anyway. I guess I'll stick at it until I'm a pro ;)

Those of us who lack rhythm have no problem with this. Dancing, now that is a real mess! (Takes quite a lot of beer to reach that stage though).

Sounds like you could do with a beer before a jog then haha... And thank you I will try that app when I'm further along.

There are loads of good Apps out there. Something like Endomondo, costs about £3.99, allow you to program intervals. ie it will tell you when to stop and go. You can then mix this in with your own music.

(Check Endomondo carefully, there is a free version which I don't think allows you to program your own intervals)

Runkeeper ( for Android at least) does allow you to programme intervals. It's free too.

What music? I have silence after laura stops talking?

Their should be music when she stops speaking. I'm not very good with technical things so don't know why their would be no music. You're not missing much lol.

The programme is fantastic, my advice would be to enjoy it and don't expect it to be easy, running is hard...but find a passion for it and its the best thing ever...good luck :)

Oh and I agree, the music is horrific!!! When you've finished you can choose whatever you like or I got Audiofuel as I needed the encouragement ( silky steve tells you what to do) and the music is alot better!!!

I've done bits of running before & enjoyed it just hoping this will build up my stamina & bring the passion back :) Thanks I'll try Audiofuel when I'm done

Hi, I've also just started this today. I haven't run or jogged since I was at school (nearly 40 years ago) but I went out today and managed to do it, however, I was very slow and found it hard. But I'm determined to do.it. Good Luck.

Well done! First step out of the door is the worst. Just keep repeating the first one until you're ready for the next, you can do it :)

Hi there!Yes I started today! I've just completed the first run. I've been trying to increase my exercise for the past few months but running always sounds extra hard! A good way to burn some calories though. I didn't find today too bad, it helps having someone telling you what to do! I've seen your post was 7 days ago, have you been out again?

Yes, well I tried it in the gym on the treadmill instead which I found harder. I think it was because it's a lot warmer in the gym though. I've done classes in the last few days which has meant my legs have suffered a lot so going on to week 2 tomorrow. Hopefully I will find it 'easy' as I've done some jogging in the past. If not I'm going to do week 1 once more then back on to week 2. It's so much easier with someone telling you what to do, I have to agree with you.

If you are able to download the c25k app rather than the podcasts then you can listen to Laura with your own music. Good luck with everything.

No problem. I used the podcasts until about week 6 but switched to the app as the runs got longer as I found my own music helped a lot.
