Technophobe wanting to start C25k

I have been going to Jogscotland and can now do 2.4k (or at least I could before Christmas!). I need something to motivate me to go out between my weekly Js sessions though. Thought this would help but don't have an MP3 player. Want to get one but don't know where to start looking as there seems to be so many types. Any advice please?

Hi Windswept, I'm sure there are lots of options available. Personally I use an Apple IPOD nano. it is a small lightweight device which allows me to download the podcasts as well as my favourite music. It also as app to capture your running data which is linked with Nike.

I'm sure you will get a number of the other members recommending their personal favourites in due course.

I'd second the iPod nano, I wouldn't be without mine.

I joined Jog Derbyshire and have had 3 runs with them. Good int it! I run on my own every other day (when I'm not injured that is, oops) with a Sony walkman (which is my husband's) It's great but you can get mp3's very cheap now. If you get stuff from Arg*s you can take it back easily if you find it's not the one for you. I would deffo get one as you can then really get to grips with C25k. Downloading from this site is easy. I had no idea how to do it as I'm not computer savvy either, but I managed it after a few tries. Go for it. You'll be glad you did

Thank you. I don't want to spend too much as I am unlikely to use it for anything else. was just talking to a friend who has a teenage son who likes researching these things, so she is going to get him on the case. I had lots of muscle injuries when I first started last year but got new running shoes having been assessed on a treadmill and haven't looked back. Going to the gym has helped with core strength as well.

If price is a factor then there are several as cheap as chips on Amazon but read the customer reviews/feedback as some are a waste of money!

Tesco do a good range of 'cheapie' MP3 players. I paid about £13 for mine but they have one at around £10 or just under. I only use mine for the programme so, like you, I didn't want to spend too much. Good luck with the programme. Best wishes.

I bought a really cheap MP3 player from argos for £11 last October, just to do the c25k programme and it's been brilliant.
