A wet and soggy run to start the new year.

I had all intention of heading out early this morning for a run, but at 6am when the alarm went off I just couldn't prise myself out of bed. What a big mistake! It was

windy but wasn't raining at 6 but when I finally get up and head out about 9am the rain was pouring down!

Once I was out I soon got use to the rain but the wind was a killer! I started wk6 r2 today and by 5 minutes into the first run I felt completely battered by the wind and really wanted to stop and go home. Luckily my route changed direction and the wind was behind me and gave me the rest bite I needed to complete the first 10 minute run.

In the end I changed the rest of my route so it I wasn't running into the wind the whole time. I completed my second although very red faced and out of breath.

I am really worried about run 3, 25 minutes seems an awful lot given how I felt after my run today.

Jenny78, congratulations.

You really weathered the storm!

I couldn't face the rain this morning, so I chickened out.

I haven't run from since Saturday.

Going to attempt it tomorrow morning.

I'm also at week 6, but I think I will do Week 6, run 1 again.

Try not to worry about run 3, you can do it and you will.

It's a mental challenge more than anything.

Let us know your progress.

Thank you viktor, It was a tough one but I so glad to have finished it. You are right about it being a mental challenge as much as a physical one, I talked myself into carrying on all the way round. I will be heading out Friday for run 3 fingers crossed the weather changes before then.

I am so glad I went out today now that I am warm and day again. I always seem to doubt my ability to run once the next big challenge is put in my way but I keep telling myself that I have run for 20 minutes without breaks so 5 more minutes is doable. I really hope I can because it will mean I can go into week 7 confident that it really is achievable.

Wow, well done and happy new year! I am procrastinating for my week 5 run 3 20 minutes. You have inspired me loads but still really cannot face outside so treadmill it will be later.

Good luck with your wk5r3, it really isn't as bad as I thought it would be. I am sure you will venture outside at some point on your running journey and will enjoy being out in the changing scenery. Other than the last few runs the weather hasn't been too bad for this time of year. Keep me posted on how you get on.

You've shown real dedication and enthusiasm up to now and all that hard work will pay off when you tackle your first 25 min run. Remember how far you've come since W1 and you can justly feel confident that you will succeed. If you struggle then you can always repeat the run, but I would lay money on you finishing the run with a very broad grin on your face. Best of luck for all your runs in 2014.

Well done on that. If the weather's fine 25mins should be a breeze after that run. Some prefer to go back to the running without a break. See how it goes.
