A pictorial review of 2013

I was going to write a wee post about some of the great runs I've done this year. I would have mentioned the very hilly 10K race at Balmoral; the PB I got on my fourth 10K race; running my first ever Half-Marathon; my first Fun Run in fancy dress and the numerous long, off-road runs through our wonderful countryside. But I've run out of writing momentum, so instead I'll give you a link to some of the several hundred photos taken by me or my hubby when out running. (Note, DH is on his bike in some of these photos as he doesn't run, but occasionally cycles with me and acts as sherpa, chief navigator, and official photographer.)

The above photo mosaic is just a taster, many more photos on my Flickr Running 2013 set:

Loved the photos. Brought back happy memories of where I first explored the countryside.

BTW - Have you ever looked at Monaughty forest as a place to run? I haven't been into it for years but it has plenty roads and rides. There's a carpark at the Torrieston/Pluscarden side with forest walks. The south face is quite steep but it means you get good views and going the other way it looks out towards the Firth.

Hi Wilma, not I've not thought about Monaughty Forest, but looking at the map, it looks like a good option for when it too wet in the west (well just west of Inverness).

Nope, can't see why you love running where you live at all. Nope. ;) x

Fantastic. Thanks for sharing. There are certainly some views to be had in your neck of the woods!

What beautiful photos. Lucky you for having such a gorgeous place to run. I'd post photos of my runs but somehow I don't think the picturesque views of Walsall and Dudley would have the same impact! (yes I know there are lovely spots to run close by!)

Viki :-)

I've just been through the link to those photos. You made me envious, my husband too & he doesn't run. I cannot believe the diversity of landscapes, from coasts to forests to mountains & what looked like stately homes/castles. I think I even spotted what we in Wales call whimberry bushes but best of all the John Deere tractors. Please don't laugh - I promise that it's my only anorak tendency but I love John Deere tractors. They are like giant children's toys. (It's their particular shade of yellow & green). Thanks for sharing them. Not sure the whisky will help your running mind but loved the photo.

John Deere tractors is not too 'anorack-ish' at all (I'm used to a hubby who likes trains, trams and buses!). One of the stately homes in in the photos is a local estate 'Big Hoose' and the castle is Liz's (HRH) holiday home - ie Balmoral Castle.

That made me chuckle - The "Big Hoose" & Liz's holiday home. My hubby likes trains & trams (not buses) too but he really is an anorak. You didn't hear that from me.
