First of all - Merry Christmas to all you lovely people xxx

I won't bore you all with my trials and tribulations over the past few months (let's just say the Beat My Boss challenge died a very swift death!). I've been plodding along in fits and starts, running whenever I've felt motivated, with most runs around the 20 minute mark. I did a 30 minute run last week, which was lovely but I'm nowhere near being back to my "best" - *sniggers*.

I had to work a few hours on Xmas Eve and as I knew it was only going to be a short day, I got up at 6.30am to do a 20 minute run. Today I woke up at 9.00am and thought to myself "right then madam, you know it's going to be a few days of good food and drink, and you know how good you feel after a run, so get your bum out of bed and RUN". So that's exactly what I did.

As I'd run yesterday, I wasn't planning on doing a lot. I was expecting my legs to be heavy and tired but actually I felt great! I got to 20 minutes but decided to err on the side of caution and not run any further. A tad disappointing as I felt really comfortable and able to continue but I'd hate if I did some damage to myself by pushing too hard (I've never run two days in a row). So I compromised and walked the remainder to 5k (plus a little bit). In all, I did 45 minutes of exercise. Exercise on CHRISTMAS DAY!!!

Even though I've not managed a 30 minute run, 3 times a week since graduating, I am astounded that I like this exercise / running malarkey so much that I'm getting up on Christmas Day morning to do a run! I'm hoping that 2014 will be more consistent and that I'll get back into a proper rhythm. I'm aiming to do the 30 Day Shred again too as I'm really missing the challenge.

Cheerio for now and thanks for reading xxx

It's amazing isn't it to see how this programme has changed our exercise habits - running on Christmas Day sounds great. Didn't get out yesterday but will have a nice boxing day run today. Don't worry about not getting those 3 x 30 runs in at the moment - you sound like you are still motivated and enjoying it, which is the main thing.

Thank you for reassuring me that you don't "have to" do 30 minutes every time you run post graduation. I graduated on Christmas eve and i'm already stressing out that i can inly do a run if i can do 30 minutes, and frankly i found 30 minutes really hard. Looking forward to running for fun!
