So Wilma, are you thinking about a marathon?! I definitely have no intention of doing a marathon. I did the Moonwalk once which is a marathon walk - and it was very long, too long! I have done 7 park runs now and have got below 30 mins just and I am planning on starting the bridge to 10k plan next weekend. I have found a local 10k at eastertime so that is my plan.

I ended up downloading an app by Bluefin Software called Bridge to 10k. If you goggle bridge to 10k there is a blog which describes the 6 week programme. I have decided I will try it but probably intersperse it with shorter runs - because I don't have the time to run that long three times a week! Different when it is light.

PS I wear my parkrun tag round my neck!

My first parkrun I volunteered and scanned bar codes. One person did themselves a nonsense trying to get their foot up to my scanner.... Put me off! One in car!

Many thanks, I have looked at both books previously thinking about a half marathon so they should help.

No thoughts of doing a marathon. I'm hoping to do a "proper" run once a month next year. Have signed up so far for the Great Winter run which is 5k round Arthur's Seat in Edinburgh in January and a club 5k trail run round forest roads in Feb. Might do the kilomathon in March which is 13.1k. What I'd really like is some more trail runs.

Ooooo Arthur's seat -- wee bit hillier than parkrun at cramond Good luck And trail runs sound interesting

I've done the route a few times now. The challenge is the haul from Holyrood up to Dunsappie at the start and trying to run the whole way up that stretch. My thought is over the Christmas break I'll train on Drumbrae and Corstorphine hill which are near home.

I've downloaded the marathon addict book - thanks for the heads up. Have you found the e book on the runningforfitness.org website? Lots of sensible advice. Including having 'rest' days, weeks, months where you just run for the pleasure of it.
