Hi all!

I have had a bit of a busy time at work so didn't get around to running during the week. Yesterday was therefore my first run since last week's Parkrun. I knew it would be tough to get a PB because of my lack of running in the last two weeks but I went for it anyway. It was looking reasonable at the halfway point but then I started flagging and was 45 seconds off my PB. However it was a good run anyway and I have moved up to 4th place in the points table for Barking Parkrun. All the guys ahead of me are currently both faster than me and attend each week so it will be unlikely that I will get into the top three unless I can run at about 21:30 regularly, but I will keep plugging away.

Due to my lack of running I decided to run 10km this morning. I followed a route that I have run a few times and kept at a steady pace and finished in 57:30. I ran the first 5km at an east pace and then upped the pace for the next 4km before easing off a little in the last km. It was nice going for a longer run, I haven't completed one since my half marathon 5 weeks ago.

My diary has freed up now so I hope I can throw myself into my interval & strength training programme now.

Wow Aftabs, If I hadn't run for so long I would've been grateful just to get around the course. Your result has left me in awe and then you even manged to run 10k the day after - WOW!!

Thanks, I am feeling it now though! I am going out for a family dinner this evening and can now justify pigging out because the Garmin said I burnt about 680 calories today!

Thanks, I was trying for a 5 min km but fell a bit short. If I start the 10km runs again I should be able to get my fitness up and be able to run sub 55 mins with steady effort. My PB is currently at 50:30 and I will look to get a sub 50 min next year.
