So due to a combination of gale force winds and a tummy bug I hadn't been for a run since graduating at the Race for Life last Friday.
Roll on to today and for the first time I didn't feel viral, the boy was at nursery and it was glorious autumn sunshine so I bit the bullet and went out.
My legs felt quite stiff (longest I had gone without running since starting C25K) and mentally I felt quite stressed that I might not last 30 minutes but at about half way I relaxed and began to enjoy it. I was spurred on by being almost at my usual 25min mark when Laura told me I had 10 minutes to go so found a second wind and really kept my pace up towards the end.
Now I have to confess to not having run for 30 minutes - it was about 29mins and 30 seconds when I reached my front door!! I was elated - my goal when I started C25K was to be able to run the distance that we called "the big loop" - a family walk that we've done for years and years and I thought I would never do it in 30mins especially given I'd not managed it in any of my pre-graduation runs! Now I can do it in under 30 (plus warm up walk of course)! Now 2 lifetime goals reached - my first 5k event run and the big loop under 30mins!
Onwards and upwards from here
Happy running everyone!
