Week 9 but have injury upper leg maybe groin

Really enjoying my running but now have mild pain and have ha it for a few weeks. Been running through it as it goes away after 5 mins of running but afterwards its back. Taken a week off now and I am itching to run. How long should I wait? Anyone else had anything like this? If so how long we're you off? I have been told its from over use, as my body is not used to it, but I have stuck to the plan.... Help
