Getting a bit more speed.

I set off on w9r2 tonight, following the same route as last time and determined to go a bit faster. I already know I can do the distance so wanted to see if I could do it in less time. It took some effort, especially at the end but I shaved off a bit.

Now only 1 run to go until I graduate. Love this running!

I love it too! I've just been out running in the rain, it was very liberating! Well done for increasing your speed, and enjoy your graduation run :)

Thank you. I am so looking forward to graduating, and now feel sure that I will eventually be able to run 5K (though not in 30 mins, I suspect!!)

Susan - you will definitely do it, that 5k just creeps up on you without you really noticing! No one could have had more self-doubt than me, but by the end of wk 9 I'd got to 4.5k within the 30 mins run. From then it's just been a matter of going at the same really slow pace, but adding on a few minutes running time (which tbh doesn't feel like a big deal when you've already run 30 mins and are nicely warmed up). I think it took me 42 mins to finally pass the 5k mark in wk 10, and yesterday got to 6k in 48 minutes. I think I'll keep going with extending the times, not aiming for speed, as I don't want any injuries and my current slow speed seems to suit me. My family are just amazed that I can actually run for 6k "What, without stopping??" ;-)

Don't you just love it when people are impressed when you tell them how far/long you run. I have a few colleagues who have almost had to pick their jaws off the floor! My family are all so supportive, which is good as I love to share each success with them.
