Some days it's a run, others it's most definitely a jog...

Today was a jog, for certain. Run 2 of week 4, and the second run after a two month gap (before which I was on week 7, grrr got to let that go!). It was tough, but slow and steady and I did it.

Previously I've always felt my pace was quite good, but today it really felt slow. I've bruised my leg nastily so didn't want to overdo things and since getting back into it I've really felt the exertion in my chest, unlike before. I'm hoping this just because the break has depleted any lung strength I may have achieved before and will improve.

Now, as it's still feeling a lot tougher than pre-break, I'm debating what to do after run 3 of week 4. Should I attempt week 5? Or repeat week 4? Repeating will be tough as I'm already dejected by my loss of progress, but if I try week 5 and fail I risk feeling even more gutted!

Do you use a smartphone app to track your run? I only ask because I use Strava and often find that when I think I've run slowly I've actually beaten all my personal records!

I would do Week 4, Run 3 and see how that feels. I've had bad runs like that but have often found the next one to feel great, even when it's been longer.

I was tracking my distance before my break, because I wanted to know how far I covered when I started the longer runs, but I haven't so far this time. In actual fact, if I think about the distance, it was extremely similar, as I followed the same route. I was using mapmyrun on my computer before, as I don't have the sort of running clothing that allows me to take my phone (Laura comes along via my ancient iPod).

I am hoping run 3 will go well, it feels important that I finish the programme and start running to my own music before the cold weather comes.... :)
