So just finished W4 R1. I was really nervous when I set out, especially when I heard Laura say exactly how long the running segments were going to be and so to make sure you paced yourself...
So I set off for the first run segment with some trepidation which was not overly helped by a long downpour of icy rain!
Anyway the long and short of it was that I did it and quite easily which took me totally by surprise. The whole way through I kept expecting it to get harder but it didn't. I don't know whether it was the cooling effects of the icy rain but I didn't feel a sweaty hot mess either for a change. When Laura said I only had a minute left at the end of the last 5 min run I had enough energy left to speed up a bit too (hardly a sprint but a little burst of speed nonetheless)!
So now I feel a bit disappointed with my run and I'm worried that I was just running too slow and not putting enough effort in.
Now I've had a shower and a rest I'm laughing at myself a bit because 4weeks ago it took all the effort in the world to break into a run for the first 60secs an now I'm stressing about how fast to run!! Anyway any advice people? Think ill try it faster on Tuesday and see how I get on but does anyone else find the first time they try a new week they run a bit slow to begin with due to nerves about getting through or is it just me? :-S

Hey runsandknits, I had the same conversation with myself yesterday after doing W4R2. I'm going to try to speed up tomorrow doing R3 but listen to my body so if need be, slow down. It's really funny as I didn't think I'd ever get to this stage too at one point and now listen to us!! Keep smiling, keep running and most of all keep at it - we can do this!
Hiya. I'm so jealous of you finding it easier, I was really struggling at the end of my first 5 minute run yesterday and had to really force myself through the rest of it. Shows just how much your body has adapted in such a short space of time. Good for you, keep it up (but don't overdo it and injure yourself).
Thanks BP! I'm amazed at myself - you're right about taking it steady to avoid injury though It's so good to know other people online doing the same thing
