Okay, so I found yesterday's run okay, and even had enough left in the tank to speed up a bit when Laura said there was a minute left. I'm still terrified about R3 though. Is it honestly more of a mental barrier than physical?

Also, I am running every other day, rather than doing three runs a week, is that okay?

If you managed run 1 then you will be fine. I remember looking at the plan before starting and thinking what a huge jump W5R3 was and it assumed terrifying status in my mind. Sure there are larger mental battles to be fought from this stage onwards but the rewards are great. Trust the plan, thousands of us have completed it and hold it in very great affection now. W5R3 is one of the most important milestones in your running career and in a few days time it will be history and you will be proud.

I ran every other day throughout C25k and as long as you don't feel any ill effects from your last run then it is fine.

Good luck with the rest of the week. Keep us posted.

Thank you. I'm looking forward to it, as it's another real challenge for me, but scared too, but I do trust in the plan, it's not steered me wrong yet after all, and I have literally never run as an adult.

I'm not feeling ill effects at all, in fact I'm always itching to get out and run again, which is probably why I'm going out every other day. I can't wait! :)

Well done on getting so far, good for you.

Try not to worry about W5R3 - it really is more mental than physical. The plan up to this stage has been preparing your body for that first longer run. W5R2 is eight minutes, a walking break, then eight more minutes. If you think about it, all W5R3 is doing is joining those two together with run instead of a walk. If you see what I mean!

Trust the plan and go for it, you will almost certainly surprise yourself - especially if you had enough left in the tank today to speed up. You are obviously pacing yourself very well.

I think every other day is fine, by the way, as long as you are feeling fine after your previous run.

I did 5.3 on Thursday and yes it's way more mental than physical. I tried to do it on Tuesday but it was an awful run day so I quickly wrote it off as a bad idea. The first 10 mins were the worst for me, once past that your body gets in a good rhythm and you have made it past half way so it gets kind of easier. Keep telling yourself you can do it and you will :-)

I think you are doing well and having just done w5r2 know exactly what you mean. I am excited about doing it but full of trepidation. I think the key is remembering the first 10 mins are always harder and then it always seems fine. I always go a bit slower with 'new' runs so the week 5 runs so far have been comfortable because I have set off more cautiously than say w4r3.

The main thing is to enjoy it I think. I am loving being out in such beautiful mornings at the moment. Will post after I have done run 3!

I did the WK5 run 3 this morning. I couldn't believe that I could actually do - it even while I was doing the warm up walk. But 30 mins later there I was grinning like a loon and with a huge sense of achievement. I'm sure you'll manage it too.
