Sciatica better had a run today

Well I have used my foam roller and think it has sorted out the sciatica which came on last week unexpectedly. To say that I am pleased is an understatement, it usually takes weeks to get over it, especially when it comes on as strong as it did. So rest and gentle walking with foam roller exercises is what I will do in future.

Run was nothing to shout about but 4K done and dusted with loads of stretches after to hopefully prevent any recurrences of hip pain.

Good for you, I know sciatica can be really difficult to get over.

And well done on your 4k run.

Great news

I went to physio for my sciatica today. Its not been awful but always there and I want to keep running and getting stronger. Anyway... whatever he did, I feel so bad this evening I feel nauseous. very sore. no running for me for a couple of days I think.

Ooohhh you poor thing. I only ever had one physio massage for sciatica and ended up worse off too. Have you taken some ibuprofen (for inflammation) and paracetamol (for pain) you can take both together so long as you can tolerate them. Hope it settles down soon, its a horrible pain that seems to radiate just about every direction.

Great to know you are back running again and 4K sounds pretty impressive to me. Following advice from you and others I got a foam roller and when I came back from my run a couple of days ago my sciatica had flared up in my right hip, I used my roller and the next morning I could barely feel it, it really has helped. I hope your combination of stretching and rolling keep the pain away.

Hi there good to hear you are feeling better ,I will have to get me a foam roller to work on my shoulder. Still having physio ,been out running a few times but it seems to start my shoulder and arm off again. Got physio tomorrow so I will see what she says about running. Pat :-(
