GROIN STRAIN. DAMN IT!!

I've gone and caused a mischief to my left groin after doing the SPEED+ podcast yesterday. I am sure that dodging pedestrians and various other oblivious folk who just stood in my way when they saw me coming at high velocity was the cause.

Any advice from fellow groin'ettes?

Am I out of action for a while? damn and blast if I am!

Oh, no, Dan - after all our comments about your premature speedaculation :O I'm so sorry to hear about your current problems and I do hope it gets better soon. (Commiserations to Mrs. Dan as well :D )

Ibruprofen will reduce inflammation and ease the pain, if pain very severe also take paracetamol. Groin strain can be very painful so don't suffer with it Dan. If its not easier in a couple of days a visit to the doctor will do you more good than harm. Take care

I've been going to an osteopath who cracks me back into shape although I had to take around 10 days off running initially to get the muscles loose enough to work on. I still manage to pop my hip out of alignment every now and again but with the stretches she's given me I'm almost winning the battle (although after an extra 1.5K on top of my normal run this morning, it may have the last laugh).

Sadly I can't really explain the stretches as I'd probably explain it wrong and you'll end up worse.

ouch....hope its feeling better. Lots of Jacuzzi treatment I'd say, and no more knocking pedestrians over!

Oh no... I couldn't help but think of that scene in 'run fat boy run' where he's rubbing his itchy groin against a mannekin?? Or perhaps Father Ted... And the lovely girls competition??

I know this may be disturbing a sleeping dog which 'twould have been better to sweep under the carpet (I love mixed matadors), but how exactly do you strain a groin and what are the symptoms? Just wondering, in case I've been straining mine over the years and not realised. I'd like to be prepared and have a glib and facile answer ready, in case Mrs OldNed ever asks.

Right at the very top of your leg where it meets your pelvis (just East or West of Tom, Dick & Harry) can be painful if you over stretch the muscle fibres. Makes walking difficult but haven't yet encountered any matrimonial setbacks!!
