Today I did 5k (good). 5 min warm up walk, 30 min run, 9, yes 9 min warm down walk because I just had to get to the 5k mark. That's 44 minutes in total in order to get to 5k (not so good). I've only got one more run to do and then I'll have finished the programme - and I feel a bit of a fraud. Couch to 5k is what it's called. I can do the 30 minutes of running, so I've definitely got off the couch, but I'm way off covering 5k in 30 minutes, I don't even do it in the 40 that includes the walks. I guess after Monday's final run of the programme I know what I've got to do - work on getting some speed.
The good and the not so good.: Today I did 5k... - Couch to 5K
The good and the not so good.
Don't put yourself down, it's just a guide. You've done well to get this far and as much time as you need to get faster
They'll be some other podcasts to build speed. I guess it'll be a run fast, run slow, run faster type programme.
Definitely don't worry about it, from reading all the blogs I think there are far more of us on here that don't manage 5k by the end of the programme than the speedy gonzalez's who do. I graduated last week and am only running around 4k in 30 minutes - but I can run for 30 minutes - and actually enjoy it! - and that seems like a complete miracle considering how hard I found the first week.
This weekend I'm planning my first attempt at running 5k and I've no idea how long it will take me but I'm sure it will be well over 30 minutes!
I don't think this post should be called 'The good and the not so good, I think it should be called 'The good and the great' Keep it up, you're doing great.
