I will be volunteering at this weeks parkrun (29 June) for the first time. I havent run for two successive parks runs due to holiday commitments and am wondering whether I will have lost speed when I do.
I do have a run session scheduled for the 3rd july as part of a try a tri session so hope this will help me next saturday 6th July.
I hope you enjoy your Parkrun duty as much as I do mine. It gives you a good chance to get to know the regulars better and helps you to appreciate the amount of work and dedication that goes into the running of these free events. I do far more duties these days than runs but its through choice. The coffee and toasted tea cake plus the chat afterwards makes it all worth while even on bad weather days.
I don't think you'll have lost condition. But you can volunteer and still do your run - just wait until everyone has finished and you get the OK to stand down. Then jump into a convenient telephone box, reveal yourself as superman/woman and do the Parkrun route. You won't get a time, of course, but you can take a note of that yourself.
