Stupid shin splints :(

I've just finished week 4 and my shins are getting really sore. The NHS website says I should take 2 weeks off running. Gutted! I wanted to be ready for Race for Life in late July- this is going to make that so difficult.

I bought some Gel Inner-Soles for my trainers and it made a difference. It didn't completely get rid of the shin pain, but there was a significant improvement. And they only cost around a fiver on eBay.

Worth a try.

Hi Bandersnatch, that's bad news, but have you tried looking up online for stretches you can do to help with shin splints? It may be with these you can keep your usual running up. Videos like this may help : sparkpeople.com/resource/vi...

Best of luck getting ready for the big race :)

Oh I really feel for you, I've had them on and off. I changed my shoes in the end and also got heel gel insoles. It's really worth having a gait analysis if you haven't already. I lost months of running, because I thought I my shoes were fine and the shin splints would go away on their own. Look up 'toe taps' on 'youtube' as well and try walking on your heels at home, sounds mad but it all works.

Good luck

:)
