Week 7 and feeling tired...

Well,

this is my first blog post. It was my middle run of the week today, my fourth run over 30 minutes as I did 32 minutes at the end of Week 5 and 34.5 minutes in Week 6 but I've been tired the last week and a half - not sure why and it isn't doing because I'm doing more - at least I don't think so as I've been running extra since Week 2 and within my capability.

The last few runs I've been using a course I've measured at 2.7 miles. I thought I wasn't going to be able to run it this time. The worst part for me is between 5-10 minutes (although I felt bad after 2 minutes today!) but once I get to half-way, psychologically it's such a boost! Anyway, I finished it with a lot of effort and only about 15-20s slower than last time so although I'm disappointed my speed hasn't improved this time - rather it's dipped slightly - at least I finished it without stopping!

I hope to do better next time, maybe get my time down to 32 minutes. I'm aiming to do the full 5K in 30 minutes by the end of Week 9 - OK, it might be too much but I'd rather aim for something beyond what I can do, it's that competitive feeling! :)

Great and good for you - it is lovely to push yourself if you can. I still feel good that I have completed the 30 min runs - but I am now aiming for the 5k in 30 mins. I am going to look at the stepping stones podcast to speed me up. But whatever we do and however we do it we are out there- which is fabulous. :-)

Hi,

Thanks!

Yeah, being out there is what counts! It's easy to get caught up in doing better all the time but the benefits are there even if we don't do as well as we'd like.

Where's the stepping stones podcast? - I think I might need to look at that to try and speed up - not being ultra-competitive but I would like to end up doing 5K in 30 minutes sometime! :)
