Week 9 run 2 - still can't breathe!

Off we popped this morning, still not really believing this was run 2 week 9! Got to our field, started pottering round at a speed I thought I might maintain. After about 5 mins gap between hubbie and I started to increase , but there was no way I could go quicker! I thought he was speeding up , but looking later at GPS on mapmyrun I think i may have slowed a bit. Hubbie only realised towards last 8 mins , at which point he did a bit of doubling back. I think this is the method we will have to use from now on. My excuse is he's a man and I have asthma. I can't possibly go as fast! We made it to the end, and speed was up on last time - more or less 4k!

Now I have to sort out my breathing. I still struggle with feeling odd all the way. Not wheezy, or chesty, but just like there's something kind of tight between my diaphragm and my lungs. As I potter round I try to focus on breathing slow and steady, but do wonder if I would be better not thinking about it at all (this should be easier to do soon, we decided 3 runs with Laura as in the other weeks, then say that's graduation and go into own music). In between ill keep practicing breathing (so to speak!).

Can't believe there's one run left!

Well done and good luck to you both for your final run! Maybe have an extra rest day and that may sort out your breathing. I've been running to my own music for a few weeks now and I love it.

well done. keep at it i am not a hayfever ot asthma person (lucky me) but there is a lot of pollen in the air as my family testify. so take it easy - you are out there doing it - fantastic. i look fwd to your graduation blog - yay :-)

Thanks guys! I don't think it's lack of rest, just my shonkey lungs! The pollen def doesn't help though!

I don't know if this will work for you , but I find that if I don't think about my breathing, I manage better. I count my steps as a diversion ( count 1 for every left footfall get to 100 start again). May sound a bit daft but worth a go?

Agree with runningmam i find it best not to think about the breathing, soon as you do it sends it to pot lol
