A few weeks ago I posted about having had testicular cancer and the resultant growing of moobs, as I believe they are 'affectionately' known. I would like to thank all those who responded with suggestions on how to stop the bounce.

I popped along to the quack, and he came up with a radical solution ~ do what women do, and wear a bra! A simple solution, or so I thought, until I cam to get one!!

I looked at my wife's sports bras, and they looked way too over-the-top (and expensive), so I decided a good old fashioned M&S jobby was just the ticket ~ right up to the point of buying one! I simply couldn't do it. Call me a coward if you like ~ I can take it, my shoulders are broad, and that is the problem ~ I am built differently.

In the end I whimped-out and bought a Sloggi bra on-line. It duly arrived and I tried it on ~ coo, how do you ladies wear them all day? I have an increased respect for my wife and ladies in general.

In closure, I would say that it does work. The result is exactly what I needed, and I am running more freely. However, I am paranoid that the straps show through and that everyone where I am running is staring at me, so, if you see a nearly 50 year-old, with a red face puffing and panting as they run past (yeah, right) and you see some unexpected straps, please just say hi, or look the other way.

Hi Sallycycle, I love your post! We don't half have some interesting topics on this site involving our problems with various body parts! WELL DONE YOU for having the courage to get out there and keep running, and the much harder act of buying and wearing your moob support - and then telling us all about it. I think you are a star! and I wish you well!

oh well done! I don't reckon people notice that much in general - too tied up in their own affairs. Anyway, what matters is you've sorted out the problem. I had a double mastectomy about 5 years ago - so no wobbly boobs for me - but still wear a bra as I had implants straight away and they do look very odd without some 'shaping' - I have joyously burned old bras on a good bonfire in the past - they get so annoying when they give up their elasticity!

ps I too loved your post!

What a brilliant blog! Witty, yet informative, along with a serious message and solution to a problem.

My sports bra was so tight when I was fitted in a large dept store, I could hardly breath. Putting it on was a challenge let along getting the thing fastened. I'm sure it was the wrong size and as you say, not cheap.

In the olden days, didnt women strap up their chests with bandages? I suppose that might restrict your breathing or drop down so you are left with a trail of bandage behind you!!

Oh so much respect, I would shake your hand and say what a hero. There's me winging about having flu last week, shame on me!! Good luck

Thanks for your reply; it is so good to hear from people.

I was at a clients a couple of weeks ago, and he said he was going back into hospital for more chemo after his cancer has come back. In the conversation I asked him which cancer it was, and it was testicular! My heart sank and went out to him and his family in equal measure. I suddenly felt that I should hold my wife and son closer that night.

The surgery on his retroperitoneal lymph nodes went well, and I hope that his chemo is going OK.

Back to running; IT'S TOO HOT!! Am I the only one to think that running in the cold weather is easier?

Good luck to ALL the runners on here, and I wish you well in the coming months. Together WE CAN DO IT!
