Was at the dentist today for an emergency appointment. instead of pulling my teeth he fobbed me off with antibiotics then told me to get on a waiting list 6 months to find a dentist grr. My question is can I still go out running while on them ? Forgot to ask.

Hi,

I was on antibiotics a couple of weeks ago and I managed to run but I did feel a little under the weather and couldn't do as much as usual... I suppose it depends on how you feel and how bad the infection is?

- I'm sure you could phone your dentist and ask to speak to him about it or maybe ask your doctor or nurse about the medication and your illness, or even phone the NHS helpline if you're doubtful. I would think the main guide is how you feel - don't run if you're under the weather.

You may not be 100% if you have an infection that needs antibiotics but there is nothing to stop you running on them. Just go slow, listen to your body and maybe take an extra rest day or two. Remember to drink plenty of water too with the heat, running and an infection to fight your body will need it!

That's good to know that I can still go out for a run. Still being a newbie to this exercising lark, knowing what's allowed etc. Thanks for the advice.

You could try, but you'd do better running on a road or path!! .... Sorry it must be the heat!

I had a gum infection a few weeks ago and I was on antibiotics. I felt OK (other than the pain) so I ran. If you've got a fever then you should definitely NOT run.

hope your feeling better now toothache is awful. No fever and pain is just occasional now so will give the run a shot in-between bouts of pain. I think. Thank you all. :-)
