what is the general rule for running when you have a cold? I'm just transitioning from w1 to w2 so still very much a novice. I don't want to miss a run but also don't want to do any damage. Thanks

I think the general rule is "above then neck ok, below the next, not ok".

ie if the infection is not on your chest and if you feel ok, no temperature etc you should be fine to run. Take it easy though. X

I'm with Pam here, the main problem with a bad head cold is your breathing, see how it goes and if all else fails a good brisk walk in the fresh air will help clear your nasal passages.

I ran through C25K programme week 5 with a cold. It made me feel better! Just take plenty of tissues!

I ran w5r2 & 3 with what I thought was a head cold and developed a chest infection, 3 courses of antibiotics later I'm still not well & not running :( take it easy, better to have an extra day off than be grounded for weeks x

Thanks for your replies. I went for a brisk walk as my breathing is laboured at the best of times and hopefully will do W2r1 tomorrow
