Ah - that's how you're supposed to do it.

Well I only went and did W5R3 yesterday morning - and I ran for the whole 20 mins too... which is quite an achievement for me as I never thought I would have made it to this stage.

I was feeling so pleased with myself on my cool-down walk which I usually struggle with because it's all up hill and I even thought that maybe I should have (I know I could have) carried on to the end of my road which would have been another 1.5k...

Apparently I covered 3k during the 20 mins running section, which would put my 5k pace around 33-35 mins - and with 4 weeks left to go of my C25K plan - for the first time this is starting to feel doable.

Then in the afternoon we were down in the town feeding the ducks on the canal when these proper runners started pounding past us, there must have been 60 or more all running in pairs - it turns out that it was a stage of the Calderdale Way Relay Race and we were bang in the middle of them on the tow path & boy can those guys go fast..

:-) :-) Congratulations on conquering the dreaded 20 and you did it with an awesome pace! Well done! :-) Gayle

Thanks Gayle - and Lauras words kept telling me to slow down and I thought I was only just going faster than brisk walk - but maybe not.

Have been looking online at beginner times and I really would be pleased if I could do a full 5k at all - but if I could do it - can I do it in a respectable time for a newbie!

Think that might be my challenge sorted

Well done, 20 mins is a good solid achievement and of course you'll soon hit 5k - from this point on the programme really comes together. Don't forget those runners you saw will have been doing it a lot longer than 5 weeks, it sounds like you had an excellent pace. :-)
