Morning runs - washing etiquette!

I feel embarrassed to ask this question but for those folks that go out for a morning run - do you shower before going?

(If anyone asks, it wasn't me who asked this!)

If I have time, I'll have a bath before going for a run - it makes me feel less achy. If it's a really early run, I don't bother - I'll wait until I get back.

Haha that's so funny. I don't run in the mornings yet but if I did I would definatly wait until my return to shower! whiffy! lol x

When I'm running first thing I don't bother with a shower first, a quick face wash then straight into my running gear, pull my hair back into a ponytail and put my cap on. That shower on return is great.

Hi, I run first thing but wait until I get back to shower. But I find thorough teeth brushing helps the breathing. No idea why - it just does. And the shower after is just FAB!

Thanks for the replies!

Yes, I couldn't go out of the house without brushing my teeth! It doesn't wouldn't be right somehow.

I feel better now, cheers!

No way! I just wash/cleanse my face, moisturize with SPF factor cream and put on some lipstick (you never know who you might meet!). I shower as soon as I'm back through the front door!

Nope :-)

I wee, brush my teeth, get dressed and head out the door.

I do shower when I get back though!

No shower before, just a quick cup of T, small banana, clean my teeth, wash my face and slap on some face cream, especially in the winter and off I go.

Ditto this too, except the tea's not tea, it's coffee! :)

I'm with everyone else, just get out there, shower when I get back.

Definitely not - my routine is two cups of coffee, one slice of cheese, erm... 'regular daily health' as it was referred to in our famiiy :D, get changed, scrub teeth, put in contact lens and go! I get so hot and sweaty running there really would be no point showering before I went, as I absolutely have to have a shower when I come back.

No I usually shower after. I did shower and put make up on, before today as I was heading "into the city" on my run :) Well you never know who you may bump into!

Haha you've just reminded me Roller that in the really cold days -10C of winter I sometimes put on lipstick. Nothing to do with being vein its just that it protects my lips and prevents them from cracking :)

I'm like most others, wake up, use 'the facilities', go for a run. Drinks, food & shower can wait until I get home.

Wash my face, brush my teeth then out there! Nice shower awaits for return.......except at the moment I'm getting a new bathroom fitted so its a strip wash in the kitchen, just not the same somehow and it looks like another week of this too!! Not fun at all.... :O

Ooooh, strip wash! Takes me back to my childhood! We were a tin bath in front of the fire family when I was born, (can't quite remember that), then all through my childhood it was Sunday was bath day - Dad got in first, followed by Mum then the kids in age order... all in the same water! yuk! and no bubble bath - washing up liquid was good enough said Dad! How times have changed!

I am a run down to kitchen, grab a banana, eat it while getting dressed, baby wipes for face and armpits, toilet, clean teeth, Ipod, tissues, runkeeper on phone, check got keys and off I go! Hot shower is great after! :-)

My parents purchased a farmhouse when I was a toddler. We had a city home and then the farm. The farm had no running water so I remember bathes in a metal tub and running to the outhouse! Childhood memories! :-)

We lived in several flats in Liverpool after moving from the farm where I was born, they were old Victorian back to back streets with no indoor toilet, so a trip out Into the yard was necessary!

I just can't see why I'd have a shower right before going out and getting all sweaty and horrible... Waste of water, shower gel, and time. And by the time I got out the shower, I'd probably feel like it was a waste of that cleanliness to go for a run.

No. Brush teeth wash face and go.

Coffee, coffee, cup of water, washed face, brushed teeth, light bit of makeup applied with sunscreen and out the door. I NEED the shower though when I return home. :-) Gayle

I just dress and drink a glass of water and go out. Everything else waits until I get back, definitely need a shower after running though :)

Nah, I just wash my face and put moisturiser on. Seems a waste of water to shower beforehand. I'd wash under my arms if I'm feeling a little hot and sticky before I go out.

Nope. I go straight from bed. Get sweaty and shower when I come home and go to work!
