W6 R2. A mental challenge.

This morning there was a bitter wind and even walking felt difficult! The first five minutes of the run I had to tell myself that I couldn't give up because I'd have to confess to you all after I'd achieved 20 minutes last Wednesday. Then I told myself I could run 20 minutes so moaning in the first five was childish. So with this occupying my head I got through the first 10 minutes.

But what made it very much worse was that notpheidippides who has been unwell and not running for almost 2 weeks trotted round the park and went off into all the little extra bits with no problems at all, looking relaxed and happy to be running again....and still well ahead of me. It was galling to say the least :( I was so tired after the 10 mins that the walk was even slower than my run...if you can imagine that :-) Usually my walk is faster than my run.

The second 10 was easier as I went slower and managed to finish very relieved that I'd done it in spite of struggling. But now I'm worrying about running 25 on Wednesday when I felt today was hard. Notpheidippides was fine at the end not even breathing heavily and he's 72 next month.

Poor lycranotlikely not daring to give up because of us! However the same works in reverse - I did not dare give up on my W2R2 yesterday! I find it more difficult to keep going when it is chilly and wet - but the warm shower afterwards is heavenly! GOOD ON YOU for keeping going!

Well done - for keeping at it. Take R3 slow and easy and keep notpheidippes out of your eye line. Just decide at the beginning you will complete it and you will.

I like reading your posts -with all the trials and tribulations. I like to keep one step ahead of you - so when I am hesitating and lacking motivation - I see you have been out again!! so on go the running shoes and I am out again.

Best of luck with R3 - I am know you can do it :-)

I really love reading your blogs too. :) I agree about keeping NP out of sight - nothing more off-putting than a speedy other person - send him off in the other direction or something!

You're doing so well - go back and read your earliest blogs again if you don't think so! ;) I have huge respect for you and your achievements. :)
