Not new to running but...

I have been run/walking for about six months and can't get past the five minute continuous running mark. I'm hoping this plan will help and intend to begin at week 4.

So I've got my running shoes on and am on my way. Wish me luck!

Welcome to the forum, and of course we will all wish you luck! Great that you have joined us :)

Just a thought, though, about starting at W4 ... Not saying its a bad idea, just thought it might serve you well to at least listen to the earlier weeks podcasts. Our pal Laura - who will guide you through the entire programme - offers some quite useful hints in those earlier podcasts for things like footfall, breathing, level running and balance all of which might help you to overcome the fatigue you are experiencing at some times. Not everyone agrees with her techniques, but she offers hints which help some folk.

Post another blog when you are back from your first 'Laura' run and share your joys and/or concerns. There are wonderful people on here who will help. Take care and ENJOY! Cheers, Linda

Thanks for that Linda. I did listen to the earlier weeks podcasts and do intend to take all advice on board.

I have just come in from my first week four run and it is about the same as I have been doing for a while. So hopefully I will be able to move on next week.

I entered to run the Manchester 10k a while ago and it is looming, 4 weeks to go ! I know I can run/walk that distance in around 80 mins. I have also entered a race for life 5k in June. Hopefully by then I will be able to run all the way. Well you can but dream eh?

Very true :) Onwards and upwards. Do you have the walk/run option in the Manchester event? Nice idea ;) And you'll probably find that in the Race for Life you'll get carried along by the enthusiasm of hundreds of other entrants ... no worries. Live that dream :) :D

In the Manchester 10k you set off in groups according to what you think your finishing time will be. I'm in the pink group. We set off last!
