Self-harm with a tape measure.....

Thanks for all the replies to my previous blog, I can't reply individually just yet due to time restrictions as I am dragging my heavy headed sinus infected self to work.

No picture yet but I have just managed to commit self-harm with a tape measure and the results ain't pretty - In fact I feel positively miserable, however I need to document this to face facts so here are my measurements.

Be kind to me:

Waist: 38"

Bust: 38"

Hips: 40"

Thighs: 23.5"

Upper Arms: 12.5"

Hopefully this is the biggest I will ever get. I certainly can't feel any lower than I do right now but self pity is not my strong point and I know that this is only something I can put right.

Take care,

Col xx

Just nipped over to read you original post. You're in the right place. I found running, more than any other form of exercise I've tried, was great for shifting my waist in the right direction. Also getting fit is a great booster to your immune system.

Disclaimer: I failed to complete week 9 last October because I wasn't keen on the longer runs. That said the programme is very addictive, just seeing if you can make the next increment keeps you going. Now my local gym has cancelled nearly all my fitness classes I'm going to be back to the running from now on.

Hi Mrs42,

Thanks for replying and the advice.

I hate gyms to be honest. They remind me of a production line.

I have never been into a gym and seen anyone look remotely happy, or to be honest, human at times. They are all there doing the same thing, day after day, in the same rotation.

I went to two fitness classes in the year I was signed up.

I guess I ought to have carried on really but I really felt uninspired.

At the fitness class they were all barely 20 year olds who looked like little waifs and had no place next to my 31 year old curvy frame.

At least with running I will stand a chance of being in my comfort zone!

Good luck with your running,

Col xx

I think you're remarkably brave to do that. It shows a lot of strength and willingness to face up to yourself - something which most people gloss over.

I've never gone to the gym either - just too boring and too many mirrors...! Instead I created a little exercise routine for myself that's so short I can't make excuses not to do it - and that works for me (or has done for the last 47 years).

Good luck with the programme - I think with your approach you'll do fantastically well.
