It will be interesting to redo this poll after Christmas with how many we actually managed. I'm hoping to stick with my normal 3 but on different days so I'm not running on boxing day or Christmas day. But with family staying till after new year we will see.

There are an additional 2 local parkruns over the break:- Christmas Day and New Years Day which i will try and do as they are great as a hangover cure. The first one sets me up for the christmas dinner but the New Years Day will be very tough as i do like to celebrate to excess the New Year. If there are any Mr Plods on the forum my local park run is only 2.5 KMs away so i also run there and back.

I'll be parkrunning Christmas day. I'd like to on NYD as well, at 9am up at Riddlesdown, then at 10am over at Banstead. There's a group that do that with cycling between them, then back to Riddlesdown for an 11am freedom run.

I'm streaking, so 7! But I'm also going to be stuffing my face so I will need to!

I'm streaking too, but I'm finding it hard work :(

Ok guys enlighten me. What is streaking? My mind is going overtime and it sounds cold.

Running a MINIMUM of a mile a day! Licence to go as mad as I want to and ignore rest days, licence to EAT!!!!!! ;D

Oooo - I do like the sound of that. A quick 1 mile run each day (or on the days I'm not fitting in my long runs) sounds a great idea!

Heh - it's totally mad. RunStreak - run a mile a day between Thanksgiving and New Year's Day. It's not registered or measured or anything, you don't log your miles anywhere official, it's just for... fun?

Wow that sounds a bit hardcore for me. My bones need a rest. I knew when I was setting up I should of put more runs in. Good luck with it.

That sounds like a challenge I might do that x

I'm finding it harder than I thought I would, to be honest. Originally I thought, 'It's just a mile a day, anyone can do that - right?' Um... I've discovered I need my rest days, even if I'm only doing a mile. But I'll stick with it and see how it goes. Have fun if you decide to do it! One of the greatest challenges is getting all my running gear through the washing machine in time for the next run :D

I'm a smelly moo, mine sits on the radiator and gets washed when I do the washing, it's only being worn for a short time and yesterday I didn't even raise a sweat it was so blummin' cold!

In Australia streaking is illegal. It means running unclothed. :-)

It does here as well! But remember it's winter this side of the globe, anyone who goes out without would soon get locked up in the loony bin!

I will be sticking to my usual 3 a week. But I have to admit I am running on the treadmill more often because of work and this cold weather :)

I will be getting back into the swing of things and run 3 times per week. I will. I will!

(I hope)

Positive thinking now! Hehe.

Wow, so many keen on running. I have never understood how or why running could be classified as fun.

in reply to Manor

Me neither until I tried it !! But it actually is....

I would love to do 'A' run but currently injured (not due to running) and getting more miserable by the day.

I must be so hard. Hope your back on your feet soon. Remember your health is the most Important thing. Look after yourself. Take care.

I'm actually planning to do 3.5 because I plan to run on alternate days. Since there are seven days in a week, that means I ran alternately 3 and 4 days par week. The weekend run being alternately Saturday or Sunday.

I'd like to run consistently 4 days per week but I am worried that missing out a rest day between runs would risk injury.

I'm like you I don't think I can run consequative days I think in the 1 1/2 years I've done it twice but only after a very small run on day one.

I also run on alternate days - I find it to be very good and it means that my running "calendar" is a bit more interesting -- eg I don't do the same things every day of the week.

You're very wise Zev. I always try and have a day's rest if humanly possible

I aim to run 3 times a week over Christmas as normal. I don't bother much about sitting in front of the telly, and I don't drink so no hangovers for me.

I'll be doing at least 3 each week - and hope to get in a few extra (and I'm aiming to do 2 parkruns on New Year's Day - so would that count as 2 or 1?) More importantly for me, I want to get up to including a few longer runs again. I did a half marathon earlier in the year and would like to get back up to regularly including some 10mile runs (which realistically I can only do on non-work days!).

I'm really battling with the cold weather this year, physically and mentally but a gentle run that was extremely hard last night has given me a kick up the bum. I'm not going to lose all I've worked for because it's cold :-)

I put three, and left to my own devices could very easily find a reason to miss the odd one or two! However, my beautiful daughter, (she who put me onto C25k in the first place), acts as my conscience, and won't let me! (One of her friends confided in me that my daughter is secretly a bit proud of her old Dad for doing this, though of course I'm not allowed to know that!) Consequently I just can't let her down :) Good luck with it, Steve

Bump!

So how did everyone get on? Did you get out there as often as you wanted? Or did life get in the way?

I'm pleased to say I managed to complete the run streak and have extended it, I'm not sure how long the extension will last but at the moment I'm still going! Still eating as well, got my post Christmas weigh in tomorrow, we'll see if the running has balanced out the mince pies or not!

Great idea, I had forgotten about that. I have posted a new poll.
