We all know that when taking steroid inhalers they all have side effects Andrew told to stop if get too much.
What are the ones with Symbicort and what would you say is too many side effects to stop.
I've only been taking since yesterday and have felt a bit of a faster heartbeat, but not too much (as what I experienced on Spiriva!) my anxiety has increased and mood change a little but is manageable, can feel a little benefit but not much yet tbh (however I'm guessing this will increase in time) slight headache at times, some shakyness, slight insomnia and slight pain in left side of chest but not unmanageable.
I know I've changed from steroid to steroid and each have had horrible side effects so hoping to stick this one out... Have you guys suffered any on symbicort and are these normal?

Inhaled steroids, such as one of the two medicines in Symbicort are targeted to the lung,,,,not systemic. Systemic means they go into and effect the whole body. There is some overlap, but the bone loss from steroids is usually from taking oral prednisone over the course of time....not from inhalers.
Isn't it a shame that we have to rely on medications that are literally making us sick! I can't take any inhalers coz they all make me sick. Just look at the side effects of any inhaler. Blows my mind! We are literally poisoning our bodies! But what choice do we have? It's either that, or not breath!!
First, most medications have side effects. However, they vary depending on the person. For example, I have been on Symbicort for years and have no issues,,,,it works well for me.
Next, when you said you "changed from steroid to steroid" and had earlier mentioned Spiriva, I am not sure you were referring to Spiriva as a steroid. It is NOT a steroid at all.
For your side effects, are you able to attribute them specifically to the Symbicort? In otherwords, is that the only thing you take? No other meds at all,,,no over the counter meds,,, no unusual foods?

Hi yes 100% due to the Symbicort as I'm not taking anything else apart from Blue ventolin and that's been fine everytime I've taken it... No anxiety whatsoever... Came off the Symbicort and no anxiety since? Tried Fostair before... Got formoteral in too, same thing happened then! So yes most definitely it's the formoteral that's causing it... I've spoken to Asthma nurse today and she's confirmed that the LABAS have this issue and are well known to increase anxiety... Been advised to try just an inhaled steroid on its own and monitor PF, finally some decent advice as Dr's just been trying different LABAs and I've suffered from sane issues! Yes, sorry Spiriva is NOT a steroid but still known to cause SVT, my HR was very high just at resting, when usually it's low and no issues...
No problem, no one has been as informative as the Nurse I spoke to today, meaning out of all my Dr's etc! she really explained everything well! Will look into steroid inhalers without the LABA and hopefully be able to take something without raising my anxiety to the point where I'm completely useless! I'm hoping while monitoring my PF that just a steroid inhaler increases it, meaning more Asthma then COPD issue! Hopefully will find out soon and will update...
