Oxygen canisters

Just started receiving oxygen. The machine and the canisters are paid for by Medicare. Does anyone know if the portable carry oxygen bag is paid for by Medicare, those metal canisters are heavy and bulky to carry.

Just ask your oxygen distributor. I utilize Lincare and they are wonderful. For a C size tank I use a liquid oxygen backpack as it's a better fit and less bulky. They are getting rid of liquid oxygen where I live so they had several available. Or I use a D size backpack, lasts longer and so much easier than dragging a cart. Although if i have to go to my pulm doc which is over an hour away i use a rolling cart in the car so I don't use use up the smaller tanks too soon. Been doing this for over a decade as I am a higher volume . Make sure you have back up tanks for travel, extra cannulas, and washers. You know Murphy's law...so always be prepared. Make sure you change your line and cannulas often to keep clean and plyable. Welcome to the world you may now breathe and ambulate in. :) good luck and happy trails

Lincare is coming today to set me up. Life changes for me today. Some inconvenience but hey... breathing will be something I will never take for granted. Have a great day! 😊

Yes , I currently have provided to me a Mini to go unit @ $8 per month . And now a new company called Apria in Calif is taking over and going to provide me with an Imogene 3 unit. I also bought an add’l unit ( like new) on Craig’s list for $1,500 ( new was $3,200$ ) with all the accessories. Bill

I'm on Medicaid disability and my carrying case came along with the canisters, the small ones and there ok. Still a little heavy but a lot easier to cope. Good luck Gary

Just wanted to let everyone know my progress. I went to medical supply company and got a form for my doctor to fill out. First they check your oxygen level while sitting , then they check your level while walking. If your level drops to 88 or lower they then check your level walking while being supplied with oxygen, if your level goes up they will fill out the paper and you can take it to the supply company. My Medicare and my supplement plan pays the whole thing. Hope this info might help someone.
