Hello Mona and welcome to the group! :)

Yes I get this way a lot. I work full time and over due it, forget to eat well, and all which leads to more fatigue for me. Every couple days I am drained and don't even sleep well. It just compounds on itself till a day like today. Yesterday was so full of activity that I think I slept more than my cat today, for real! So often I need to remind myself to slow down and take better care of me!

Do you still work or have a fast paced lifestyle? How are you doing with the COPD and meds? Others will be around later and in the morning to share more.

Pete

Hello Theresa, I still work full time but have slowed my pace greatly over the past year. I am also blessed with coworkers that will help me along on tough days. I still push myself to far and for to long at times, then pay the price later. My fatigue and breathlessness are a daily battle.

I wonder at times how long I will remain working. I need to continue working at finding that happy medium because I'm still far from retirement age.

I suffer a lot from this as well. I also have CHF and I am very anemic which also doesn't help me

Hi daddyjohn40: I also have COPD and CHF, wondering what your doctor is doing for your CHF? I don't feel like my cardio is taking it as serious as she should be and doing all that she can. I also have A Fib and I'm on a blood thinner for that.

Have a good day, going to be cooler today here in NH and I'm couldn't be happier.

I too have COPD, CHF, AFib, Mitral Valve replaced and regurgitation of both Mitral Valve and Tricuspid Valve, Multiple Sclerosis, and a few other ailments. I also have complex sleep apnea and am on 4ltrs of oxygen during the day and 8 ltrs at night with my VPAP. I find it hard to breath all the time. I wake up in the morning as tired as I was when I went to bed. I take Coreg for my heart and Warfarin for the AFib, Lasix to try to keep fluid off. Hope you hada good evening.

Hi Jlwebb54; I have systemic lupus along with COPD, CHF and Afib, they think the lupus has had an effect on the heart. I last sleep test showed restrictive lung disease, tried the sleep apnea machine and I just couldn't do it. I find that if I can keep the nasal prongs in at night I get a pretty good nights sleep. Has your doctor every talked with you about changing your warfarin over to Xarelto for the A Fib? I have been taking this since it came out and I like it so much better, no diet restriction and it keeps the blood level where it belongs and I don't need testing. I have to take it a night with a full meal, this prevents stomach upset. Cardio just changed me to Bystolic for the heart, this one isn't suppose to effect the copd so badly.

Do you have the head of your up on blocks? I bought a foam wedge but it's too high, kills my low back so I just do the blocks.

Have a good day, it has finally cooled off here but I understand the heat is on it's way back by the end of the week.

Hi LORBIC, I am unable to take anything else for the AFib due to my kidney transplant. I take anti rejection rugs for that so my body doesn't reject it. There are so many drugs I am unable to take because of that. I think I'm just destined to be like a walking time bomb ready to go off at any time lol. I have a couple of different wedges for my head, but am not using either one for the very same reason, so I have two pillows plus a bone shaped pillow that I use occasionally. Then there are times I sleep setting up or in my recliner. I swear there are days when I feel like a hypochondriac. I go to the dr and he reminds me of all my ailments. I so wish I could take something else for the AFib; I detest Coumadin/Warfarin.

Hi Mona and welcome aboard 🙄

I'm 57 and was diagnosed earlier this year with COPD. This group has helped me a lot to understand ... that, for one, I'm not alone and two, the information and experiences people have shared here have help me understand more about how the way you go about your daily life can make a big difference in the way you feel both mentally and physically.

I can't speak for anyone else but extreme fatigue is something I battle with daily. I do mean battle too. I could lay down and sleep all day and night. It used to be like how others would nap that was like my wake times. I would sleep and wake for an hour or so or less and then back to sleep I'd go. This was my preferred routine. But I am slowly changing that. SLOWLY...lol

I hope you are getting the right meds for your particular situation. It can make all the difference in how you feel.

I think fatigue is a big number one symptom since a person who has COPD has a serious breathing issue. Just go slower and be okay with going slower. Accepting some limitations helped take off some of the emotional stress for me.

Have a nice evening and good luck🙄

Yes, Thorn, you nailed it here in regard to fatigue. That is my main symptom.

Best thing, keep moving as much as you can.

Yes, it's tough not having any energy. It is a part of the copd. I have had it for over 1 year and this past year was hospitalizes 3 times, it takes 1 month just to recover from the hospital. I'm waiting to go to rehab because the Dr. Said it's hard and he doesn't want or feel like I'm ready with being on the hospital for a week. Hang in.. we are here for you.

I have copd well as well, emph(spelling) I have to be on oxygen 24/7 thank God you do not have to have that also. You must always have your portable or the one I use around the apartment. If you 02 is 98 your in good shape. With out oxygen mine can go down to 73 pretty fast.

Hi Mona: The only time I sleep a lot is when I'm coming into a flare and during a flare. I find that by forcing myself to get out in the evening on good days and taking a short walk helps a lot. Make sure you are drinking lots of water. This could be a medicine issue also and make sure you doctor knows what is going on.

Hello Mona. I also get very tired some days and just want to sleep. I have heard some people battling depression sleep alot. Don't know if that's the case for you. For me yes I do get depressed on occasion and don't want to deal with my copd or anything else. So I sleep. Thank God iam able to continue working to keep me busy and everyday chores helps keep me focused. If you are experiencing fatique that is debilitating, I would talk to your doctor about this. Just try to do little things at a time. Exercise and healthy diet gives me good energy. But you should discuss this with your doctor first. Take care and God bless

yes, I want to rest all the time. I used to enjoy going to mass each morning and now it's an effort to get dressed each day. It seems I spend most of my time coughing and sleeping. Do u cough very much? We just have to put our trust in God and know that he will always be here for us. Ellen
