Hi all basically I have had rectal bleeding for years was told it was a fissure or haemorrhoids have seen haemorrhoids this week (sorry tmi)

however I did a fit test a month ago which came back positive at the time when I was wiping there was no blood but obviously there is blood in the stool.

Just wondering can haemorrhoids still bleed and not show on wiping and also my stool today had a bit of white mucas around it and there was some blood when I wiped (there was no blood mixed with the mucas) my stool was hard this morning they always are and i only go every other day or every three days

I have had bleeding for at least four years no other symptoms attached is a pic of my poo this week when I had blood

Hi , I suppose if you have internal haemorrhoids it’s possible that they have bled and then not been anything on the toilet paper. You should get an appointment to see specialist and have a colonoscopy to check everything out then you will know if anything more serious. I wish you luck

Hi Cait8888,

Thank you for posting on Colon Cancer Connected. You said you had these symptoms for years and the cause was a fissure and or hemorrhoids. It is definitely possible that you wouldn’t see something on the paper as opposed to it showing up in the stool sample only. The fact that you had a FIT test and it came back positive shouldn’t be shocking. I would definitely schedule another meeting with your GP and get re examined for the cause of the positive fit test. It’s good to have some updated answers just to make sure something hasn’t escalated. Always good to catch things early. I would think a colonoscopy would be in order.

Another thing to know is if there is a hereditary aspect to the symptoms you’re experiencing. This will be good information for your doctor’s know as well. It could determine the course of tests that you would need.

We do issue the best in finding answers. I would think it would be good to have an update on what is causing the issues you’re seeing.

Thank you,
