Blood in stool/unusual symptoms

Hi everyone.

I’m 25 (F) and terrified I have bowel cancer. Tracing back and recognising symptoms, the first occurrence was diarrhoea out of no where (mid April), desperate need for the toilet and I hadn’t eaten anything bizarre or unusual for me. I have never had a sensitive tummy or eaten foods that have made my have an upset stomach.

Then in mid May, same kind of thing happens. Except this time there was a lot of bloody mucus with diarrhoea and then when I went back to the toilet, I just emptied the rest of the blood.

Didn’t really have anything after this but the weekend just gone, I went to the toilet and it looked like there’s blood in my stool again. I’ve also noticed mucus anyway, even if it isn’t bloody. Since then, I had watery diarrhoea the following evening and then no movement for a couple of days. I eat a relatively healthy diet, fruits, veg protein etc.

Sorry for the picture but does anyone have any ideas re my symptoms? I am killing myself with stress and anxiety over this. I’m phoning my GP tomorrow but I’m worried I’ll be dismissed with colitis or IBS.

Can I also add, I have definitely lost weight but i was trying for a while. It has kind of fallen off me in a short space of time though, and I don’t know whether the stress is adding to this and therefore, a result of me not eating as much.

Hi Greenshirt2206,

Thank you for posting in Colon Cancer Connected. I'm sorry that these symptoms are causing you anxiety. There can be a lot of reasons you are experiencing these symptoms. You are doing the very best thing and that's trying to get answers. I'm glad to see you are going to get with your GP to determine what's going on.

If you already know you already are experiencing blood in your stool, that is also a good reason the determine what's going on. You didn't mention abdominal pain associated, so that's good. Please focus your efforts on getting the answers and that should put you on a path to the solution. I wouldn't jump directly to bowel cancer. You've got to get things narrowed down and your GP should be able provide the tests to determine what the cause is. I know it's tough to do, but focus on getting answers. Whatever it is, you are catching it early and very good.

BTW, I also lose weight when I get diarrhea.

We wish you the best in determining what's going on. Please let us know when you find out. The information could help others.

Thank You,

~Tom, GCCA Survivor - Colon Cancer Connected Site Administrator.
