Not a question, a fix for hemorrhoids and it's in your fridge!

Okay, on top of all my other issues I've struggled with hemorrhoids for years. Yes, medical creams and suppositories were standard. So, if you're like me and I bet you are... All you want is relief right? Me too. The unreal answer is cabbage. Yes cabbage. Wait, I have IBS as well, and cabbage hurts... Me too! You don't eat it... Take a few fresh leaves and make it a paste. Apply to you know where for 15 minutes, then clean it off. Instant fix! UNREAL! I feel I need to add EXTERNAL USE ONLY here... I couldn't believe it. Why has nobody shared this? I swear people, it works. No fancy cream, not costing you anything. You're welcome, please be like me and pass this on!

MOLLYMILO007 - yikes! I'm guessing that was an intense effect the Vicks had on your mom. 😳 Did it work for her or was the lol for the fact that it was not helpful?

Hi Jon0000 ,Cabbage, that's a new one I haven't heard before! Where did you hear about this?

While cabbage is not something that we'd typically think of harmful (except for those with IBS or other GI issues where cabbage is very difficult to digest), we do recommend checking with your doctor. You'd be amazed at how many natural remedies are actually harmful when combined with certain prescription or over-the-counter medications.

I wonder what it is about the cabbage itself that is soothing or is it as Hidden mentions, that it is because it is a lubricant as opposed to cabbage having some special properties.

While we're always up for hearing these tips of what's worked for someone, I do have to put in my standard advice of speaking to a doctor when you are experiencing discomfort. Doctors can prescribe medication and there are also over-the-counter medications that have lidocaine which numbs and can provide relief.

The biggest concern I have about self-treating hemorrhoids is that often if someone is told they have hemorrhoids (either external or internal), they often write-off and bleeding or other abnormal bowel habits as being due to the hemorrhoids. When in reality, there are treatment options and procedures that can be discussed with medical professionals to keep symptoms under control or even have banding procedures (or other types of procedures) to treat the hemorrhoids.

Cabbage... who knew!

It was a Dr that passed the information on to me, just wasn't "my" doctor. She had me add the external use only part as I was posting it. She said she always recommended to her patients but she mostly deals with women. She told me she knew it worked for a woman's chemistry, and "should" on me as well. I couldn't believe it! I also can't believe the crazy replies when you're just trying to put some good information out. Thank you, for taking the time to reply. I do agree, this works, but does NOT cure what is wrong. Simply a REALLY good bandaid...

Thanks Jon0000 so much for replying. I also appreciate the "for external use only" portion. Every time I read that on a box or see some type of warning, you know there's a reason why they had to include that!

Thanks again for the tip. I'm sure many people will find it useful!
