Hi, I am 34 years old, last year in january I had rectal bleed almost every day for around a month, like bright red, with urgency to go to the toilet and pain in my left lower abdomen. After one month, the bleeding stopped. But the pain was on and off in mythe left lower abdomen. Now I still have some discomfort in the left side, not bad pain, but I feel something is wrong even if I move my body,I can feel a discomfort. I had days when the pain in left lower side was all day. I can not get ride of that discomfort in the abdo, The stool is many times narrow, I can see the shape, and some blood, not very much. I can feel some piles around the anus, and some slight pressure on rectal area at times...but why my stomach is upset, I had diarrhea 3 or 4 times after eating some certain food, like wattery and foamy. My stool is many times fluffy pieces with ragged edges, mushy stool. Also my stomach in the last few days is gurgling. What can be???

Dear NoName86 ,Thank you for posting and I'm sorry to read about what you are experiencing,

Have you seen a doctor for this at any point in the last year since this started? Seeing a doctor is the best thing you can do.

There are many reasons for blood in the stool, some are very treatable with medication, diet change, and minor procedures, and of course, there are more serious reasons for blood in the stool as well. For that reason, we always advise patients to seek medical care when they have blood in the stool.

Depending on where you live and your insurance, you may start with a call to your primary care doctor. And with COVID, that may mean a video or phone call instead of an in-person office visit. There are stool tests that your doctor can order and bloodwork that your dr. can do, and that may determine if they refer you to a specialist. Your doctor may take a medical history including asking if any family members have had colorectal (bowel) cancer.

Before you speak to your doctor, be sure to have written down a list of all medications that you are currently taking, including over-the-counter medications and supplements. Often, patients with GI issues will also keep a food journal to track food and beverage intake, bowel movements, any pain or bleeding, etc. This could be useful information for your doctor. Additionally, it could show you a pattern (for instance, possibly being lactose intolerant, if you experience diarrhea after eating dairy).

As hard as it is, try to not let the anxiety get to you too much. (I know that it is a lot easier said than done!). Our GI systems are very sensitive to stress and anxiety and can make symptoms worse.

Please contact your doctor and post an update when you can.

By the way, when you expressed this to the doctor what did they say? Are the suspecting something sinister?

GP did not say anything, It is already one year waiting for colonoscopy. Do you have similar symptoms?

I had colonoscopy yesterday and they found some erythema in the colon, sigmoid and I think ascending. They took biopsy, I have the review in 6 weeks with the doctor, they said query mild colitis. I don t know, I am a bit depressed, I lost some weight, hope to recover mentally, this means my life will change from now on, and who knows if I will get rid of the pain, and is possible to have colonoscopy more often.....I don t know, it s hard

What exactly does that mean? Is this indicative of IBD?

I was more focused to get a good feedback after the colonoscopy, you feel some pain when they inflate the bowel, but is manageable. Hope everybody will be ok, we need a hood healt, God help us
