Colon cancer? Should I be worry?

Hello,

My question is the following:

For 2 or 3 years my stools have been considerably smaller, in some cases taped, fractured, pasty and sometimes they are very disintegrated (without being liquid). At this time I had bleeding once, because I ate a lot of pimples and I felt that they scraped something inside me but it is over.

4 months ago I was in hospital emergencies because I vomited everything, I had severe diarrhea and pain in the right side of the abdomen, there the doctor gave me a routine exam, giving me as a diagnosis: Irritable Colon, I followed her instructions and stopped presenting diarrhea However, I still have small stools, I don't know if it's due to the anxiety I manage; I was reading that small stools are a sign of polyps or other more unpleasant things. (In my family there are no cases of colon cancer, the closest was my loving grandmother who died from a poorly performed colonoscopy).

I do not know whether to feel worried or not, I have routine blood tests and everything is normal. Finally I am 24 years old.

I appreciate your opinions (It is clear that when I am not in quarantine I will visit a doctor to do coprological exams and all that ...)

Hello jemcaracas, thank you for posting and I'm sorry for the issues you have been experiencing. I recommend that you do visit a doctor, there are many reasons why your stool could be thin. It is so important to listen to your body and if you feel that something is not right, that you continue to follow up with a medical professional. Try not to be too anxious, the gastrointestinal system is very sensitive to anxiety and it can make symptoms worse. Deep breaths, and do contact your doctor now, depending on the doctors office, they may be able to see you even though we are still dealing with COVID-19 worldwide. Please keep us posted.

I don’t think you have a problem, I had colon cancer and my issues were different than yours, I was going to the toilet 8 or 9 times a day because I couldn’t empty my bowels because the cancer had blocked them, I had dark blood in my stool. And stomach pains. Plus you are very young , I was 50 and I had a very seriously history of bowel cancer in my family. So I wouldn’t worry if I were you. But for your own peace of mind just get it checked.

I am also concerned about Colon Cancer. I have a weird pressure almost all day long for the past 3 weeks in my anal cavity. Feels like a balloon expanding. Did you have that issue? Or do you know what that could be? I have a colonoscopy booked but now I am worried about that because this post said someone died from getting a colonoscopy.

No I never had that problem it might be something else I wouldn’t worry, get the colonoscopy to give yourself peace of mind.by the way the colonoscopy is ok it’s the the drink you take the day before is absolutely disgusting, it’s the worst part of it

My grandmother died from that exam, however, the odds of this happening are 0.3%, keep in mind that she died from 2001/2002, the technology was not that advanced, and the doctor who did the exam was very beginner

I'm so sorry to hear that your Grandmother died from complications of a colonoscopy. That is so unfortunate that the person who performed the colonoscopy was unprepared. Are you open to getting a colonoscopy? If you prefer to start with a FIT or sDNA test, those are not invasive at all, just a stool-test.
