Hello Kazadi. I myself was diagnosed at age 28 with stage 4 colon cancer. In order to help give some advice, I would need to know a bit more about the situation. How did the diagnosis come about? What stage is your brother and has he met with a surgeon, radiologist or oncologist yet?

Hello my name is Veronica. I was diagnosed with bowel cancer yesterday

Hi My names Grae.

Diagnosed with rectal cancer 8 yrs ago aged 40. Had lower anterial resection and temp. ileostomy which was reversed after 10 months. 27 lymphs taken out of which 5 were infected. Tumour so low down I nearly had permanent bag. Was very lucky in the end. I believe I had the tumour for at least a year before it was taken away as not taken seriously by GP because of my age. Went to GP again once abdo pain started.Would like to help/reassure anyone in similar position right now.

Hello my name is Betty,

My mum was diagnosed bowel cancer aged 73 in 2006, she passed away in 2007, my younger brother 42, was diagnosed in 2007, we didn't tell mum who was in the next ward, I had no symptoms but wanted a colonoscopy to feel safe, the dr said I should wait until I was 50(I was 46) but I insisted. In Feb 2008 they found a four centimeter tumor, I had a bowel resection a month later, luckily it hadn't progressed through my bowel or to my lymph nodes. My brother passed away in October that year. My other brother and my sister both had colonoscopy but were clear.

Although we lost mum and our brother, we are thankful at least that I was diagnosed early enough to be a survivor. I would probably not have known of my cancer until it was too late if I had waited for symptoms.

8 years cancer free for me.

Hi. I was diagnosed with stage 3 colon cancer with lymph involvement 2 years ago. I had surgery and 5fu chemo for 12 rounds. I returned to work part time 1 year after chemo was completed. I have continuing neuropathy in my hands and feet as a side effect of the chemo. I give thanks every day for the many blessings that I have. My husband and I have made changes to our diet such as juicing, mainly beet juice. And cottage cheese and flax seed oil. Check ups are still nerve wrecking but have been good so far. We don't know what the future holds so live life to the fullest every day.

Hi I'm pleased you are ok now - I was diagnosed in May this year - stage 3 - 8 cm tumour - about to have surgery next month - chemo after that - I've had radiation /chemo

It was pretty horrid - but I survived it and was working most if way thro - but I'm pretty scared about the surgery and chemo after -

blh55 in reply to Jwarren

my surgery was not so bad. I did not have to have a colostomy. recovery from the surgery was quick. it was the chemo that got me down. much better now except for feet neuropathy and still some fatigue. I have decided to retire from work and just concentrate on living. money isn't everything!

try writing a bucket list and scratching one thing off at a time and making a memory book / box thats what we have done and it also helped us look at the good thing around us and communication between us .

Have you considered trying cannabis oil? I am using it now myself, and just am feeling soooo much better. I am not at a place where there were no other options, but I really believe from my personal experience so far that first of all it is not harmful, and might well be VERY helpful. Maybe worth a try if there are no other options.

Hello my name is Fatima and I was diagnosed with Crohn’s disease about 3 years ago, but I’ve had the symptoms (bleeding, weight loss ...etc) for 8 years before getting a diagnosis ... I was scared to tell anyone about my symptoms so I stayed silent for eight years, then my body couldn’t take it anymore and I was sent to the E.R and got diagnosed a month or so after that.

I am 65 and was first diagnosed with colon cancer in 2010, stage 3. After several botched operations and removal of part of my descending colon the cancer was found and removed and I had a bag for eight months (not much fun!). Chemo followed and I was lucky to have five clear years with frequent scans. Unfortunately the cancer returned in my lymphatic system and I have been on various chemos plus radiotherapy ever since. Although it has been a rough road I feel lucky to still be here and the treatment in France has been amazing. My oncologist is dedicated and caring and the clinic where I have treatment first class. My advice is to live in ‘small bites’ and try not to think of the big picture. My present goal is to get to Cyprus for my son’s wedding in November. Can’t wait.

Good luck to all of those in my rather dismal boat! It hasn’t sunk yet! 😬

Hey

I been having constipation the last week little longer feeling like I haven’t finished but I don’t keep trying to push I don’t want to get a hemorrhoid haha

So I just go back and forward off and on , now last night I noticed blood when I wipe with some small blood clots as well and after I fee is burns a little but the burn feeling don’t stay long couple seconds than I feel fine (not like urine infection burn feeling how the burn feeling stays) but that’s on and off.

I read the symptoms for colon cancer

My sister says it does run in the family!

It’s got me realllly scared to go see the doctor

I also suffer with depression so that isn’t helping me get off my ass to do the colonoscopy test (think that’s what it’s called) .

Scared Girl.

Hi. I am 71 and have had a + poo stick test so am having to have a colonoscopy next Friday. I also have a congenital hole in my heart that is going to be mended, and have bronchiectasis and Graves disease (over active thyroid). I also had breast cancer successfully treated in 2008. I have had lots of blood tests done for the cardiac catherisation I had in February and they are all fine. I'm not keen on the colonoscopy but they would not do a CT scan. My husband is not taking it well, and said I should have had a 2nd poo test. How do others explain to their partners. Thanks for ;letting me join and vent.

Hi I'm Terrie.I'm new here. I found this site while scrolling looking for other things. I have cancer of the anus. Had surgery mid February and now have a colostomy bag which is supposed to be temporary till after my Chemo/ radiation is complete but I'm not sure who to believe anymore. I've been to the ER too many times. Been told things that just were not factual ,have had horrible experiences in the ER as well. I've been having bad pains in side where my cancer tumor is(rectum and my whole area butt cheeks and all feels like I've been kicked there over and over ) inside my vagina ( due to having a fitchula ) my abdomen and having nausea. My pain pills don't take away this pain, nausea pills help. constipated now for 5 days.I'm supposed to have an infusion and a simulation both this month on the 28th but if I end up in the ER then hospitalized, what will happen to those apointmets ? I'm scared to go again but scared not to go to the ER.I've been completely lost in this new world called cancer. If you have any information to share with me please do or if you'd like to ask questions or can relate to my circumstances please do.I live in Houston Texas now where I'm receiving care thank you for reading.
