Vitamin B12—Multifaceted In Vivo Functions and In Vitro Applications
Research indicates that
vitamin
B12
deficiency leads to indirect DNA damage, and
vitamin
B12
supplementation may reverse this effect.
Vitamin
B12
acts as a cofactor for enzymes such as methionine synthase and methylmalonyl-CoA mutase, which are involved in DNA methylation and nucleotide synthesis.

Omeprazole and Vit B12
Article reads: all people taking omeprazole need to either supplement with
vitamin
B12
or have their
vitamin
B12
status checked on a yearly basis. Even relatively small amounts of
vitamin
B12
such as 10–50 mcg per day, are likely to protect against drug induced

Vitamin B12
Just wondering what is classed as optimal B12 with Hashimoto’s? Mine is 84.7 (37.5-150). I don’t take it for a week before blood tests due to it affecting thyroid results. Recently been feeling lightheaded, tingly and getting lots of head rushes and mild headaches and sensitivity to light so trying

Importance of vitamin B12
Interesting - Researchers report that depletion of dietary
vitamin
B12
(which induces propionate breakdown) & propionate supplementation suppress neurodegeneration & reverse Parkinsons-associated transcriptomic aberrations (in C. elegans) https://www.cell.com/cell-reports/fulltext/S2211-1247(24)00193

Some help
While not a cure I have found that
vitamin
B12
helps. My feet are less painful since I started taking it in spite of not really believing in it!

B12 deficiency: a hidden trigger of inflammation?
‘We already know that
vitamin
B12
deficiency is not good for an individual, and that dietary measures should be taken to correct it. It will be interesting to understand if
vitamin
B12
supplementation can play a role in disease management,’ noted Lamuela-Raventós.
