No it is not a symptom. Does she have a high instep in her feet?

I have CMT 1a. I have a gap between my big toe and my 2nd toe and have done since childhood I also have high arches. I'm mid 30's now and have only recently been diagnosed since approaching the dr regarding rolling my ankles more frequently.

Hi, Monk2,

No I have never heard of this being associated with CMT. A feature you would be more likely to find , as Ilsesmi and fatboyslim mention are high arches ( insteps) . Problems with balance, weak ankles and difficulty in raising the front part of ones feet are also some of the most common symptoms of CMT.
