PIP consultation

Face to face consultation:

I had my face to face consultation with Capita today regarding my PIP application.

The assessment was in my home and the assessor was 15 minitues late.

All in all a pointless and expensive exercise.

The questions were very random and not necessarily relevant, for example I was asked if I had attended main stream school and how old I was when I left?

I am 58 years old and left school at 18?

The first relevant question was very generic, I was asked how my condition affected my life, well how long is a piece of string?

I had the latest report from the consultant neurologist with my results from my nerve conduction studies. I gave this to the assessor who said she wasn’t allowed to take it and for me to post it.

So, I’ve mixed feelings and do not feel overly optimistic.

After she had left I rang DWP to ask for the address to post my report to, the operator was surprised that the assessor had refused to take the report, she was very helpful and added a note to my records to say that this was being forwarded.

At least the DWP seem to know what they are doing!

Fingers crossed it won't be as bad as it could be. I will have mine soon, I'm dreading it. I so hate the way the benefits are being managed whilst rich people are being allowed to evade tax

I forgot to say that I asked the assessor her professional background, she replied saying, “Nursing/ Midwifery.”

Presumably her knowledge/ experience is transferable?

I don't suppose she'd learn much about our condition in either of those jobs, but then dr's don't either. I suppose she ought to know about our neural system and what happens when it goes wrong. Fingers crossed for a good outcome!!

I’ve been informed of my PIP decision.

I’ve been awarded the enhanced rate for both daily living and mobility.

I had asked for the assessors report and she had suggested the standard rate for both which makes me think that the decision maker must also read the supporting information from other professionals!
