Hot lower legs

My daughter is 42 and was diagnosed when she was 15. She is suffering terribly with hot swollen lower legs. Doctor has given her Amitryptiline which isnt touching it. She hates taking prescription drugs. Does anyone have any good results from herbal meds.?

Please be careful with the Amitriptyline!! Oh my goodness it gave me the worst mood swings. I'm a peaceful person and it caused me to have rage that was horrible. B12 is a necessity for us with CMT. Our disease depletes our body of it and our bodies really need it. So have that checked regularly. Another one that helps with pain and swelling for me is Fish Oil, a high concentration of it in soft gel form. Keep that in the freezer though. Exercise for people like us is hard, but doing what you can do to keep your body moving helps too. I have to use a cane and braces but I went from motorized wheelchair to walking 3 miles a day. Of course it took a very long time but that has honestly helped me more than any pill. And stretching. Sorry this was so long. Take care.

My daughter has it as well, but it's been a struggle trying to get her to exercise and stretch.

I struggled with amitryptaline too, my dr changed it for another tricyclic antidepressant with pain relieving features, Lofepramine and that helped, Ami... was leaving me thick headed and dozy. I think Ami....is cheap cos its quite old now & drs are told to spend less. I don't have any particular remedy, but I do try to eat a whole food, clean diet with lots of veg & goodness, & I ride horses at riding for the disabled. I haven't had a miraculous cure, but I think thats as good as it gets for me.

I am currently being treated for lymphedema. Both my feet and ankles and my right leg are swollen. I do take Lasix to remove some excess fluid, but the most important thing is going to an occupational therapist especially trained for the disorder. She did massage and bandage wraps to start. I'm now wearing compression stocking and using an electric compression machine for two hours each day. The swelling is decreasing nicely. I would be concerned about the heat in your daughter's legs as a sign of infection. I'm in the USA so doctors and medicines are probably different. Think you should find a different doctor who would be treat the heat and prescribe a therapist.
